The Department provides a vibrant identity for ophthalmology at AKU that delivers subspecialized and multidisciplinary services integrated with an enabling environment that supports outstanding teaching/learning, research, partnerships, and leadership development. We currently have a ophthalmology residency program and have received approval for vitreoretinal fellowship training. Current Faculty work closely with a team of over 40 specialized medical staff, nurses, optometrists, technicians, technologists and others to offer comprehensive eye care for adults and children. These include but are not limited to surgery for cataract, corneal transplant, retinal disorders, glaucoma, orbital and facial reconstruction, refractive, squint, and ophthalmic tumors. Most of these services are delivered through the outpatient consulting clinics and/or day care surgery. There is a highly enabling environment for interdepartmental collaborations to support education, research and leadership development. Enhancing subspecialty care is a major strategic priority for the Department. We are seeking an outstanding comprehensive ophthalmologist who is willing to obtain world class fellowship training in pediatric ophthalmology or oculoplastics/orbit/ocular oncology. The candidate should be prepared to undergo subspecialization within 12-18 months of their appointment, and the Department will work with them to help secure appropriate fellowship training.  Aga Khan University invites applications for the position of Senior Instructor in the Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences as a comprehensive ophthalmologist who will commit to undergo fellowship training in Paediatric Ophthalmology or Oculoplastics/Orbital Surgery/Ocular Oncology. Responsibilities You will have an independent consultant status and will be expected to devote a portion of your time to teaching and mentoring learners (UGME, PGME and fellows as appropriate). Additionally, you will support continuing Medical Education (CME) activities and allied health training.  Requirements You should have completed a structured postgraduate training program in completed a postgraduate training, and FCPS, FRCS, FRCOphth, American Board or equivalent with subsequent clinical and teaching experience of two to three years. A clinical subspecialty fellowship training would be preferred. You should be registered with College of Physicians and Surgeons of Pakistan (CPSP).  Additionally, you should have excellent communication and interpersonal skills along with professional conduct that fosters a high-performance team culture.
