About the Department: The Department of Regional Development, Manufacturing and Water (DRMDW) drives growth for Queensland by managing sustainable water resources, leading innovation in manufacturing, and developing our regions. From our offices in Brisbane and a network of regional offices and manufacturing hubs, more than 700 DRDMW staff work to create a Queensland where communities, businesses and water resources are sustainable and resilient. The Role: Embark on a pivotal role within the Water Resource Management Division, where you will lead a team of experts providing strategic oversight of urban water supply security across Queensland. As a key player in this specialised field, you'll provide expert strategic advice, influencing outcomes for government decision making and water industry development. Foster collaboration with urban water service providers to safeguard the well-being of communities. Build a culture of high performance through continuous team learning and development for a multi-disciplinary team where innovative thinking is encouraged. Establish a policy and planning framework to give direction under the Water Supply (Safety and Reliability) Act 2008 for continuity of supply. Provide strategic oversight and advice on the South-East Queensland water security program. Deliver expert high-level analysis on the provision of water supply services, multi-purposed water infrastructure, and water security solutions including policy and legislative compliance in a complex regulatory environment. Prepare briefings and submissions for the Minister, the Premier, the Director-General and other stakeholders on complex issues. About You: Proven strategic leadership skills to achieve the organisations vision by developing organisational capability and empowering a diverse and inclusive workplace. Strong communication skills to build internal and external relationships with local, state, and national Government stakeholders to deliver projects supported by appropriate consultation and engagement. Ability to influence best practice planning standards and display sound governance in water security planning.
