We are looking for an experienced Sr. Corporate Counsel to advise on legal and policy aspects of digital trust and safety issues with a focus on the APAC region of the world. Key job responsibilitiesYou have experience with global legislation related to digital trust and safety, identify digital trust and safety risks, make fast, high-judgment decisions, and communicate effectively to stakeholders regarding risks unique to the online environment. We work fast and require someone who is flexible, biased for action, very detail-oriented, and is comfortable tracking many threads across many teams.As Sr. Corporate Counsel you will:•Work closely with Legal and Policy colleagues to track developing content policy legislation, develop cross-functional Amazon positions, and engage with regulators or trade groups as needed to support PP in shaping legislation.•Scope and implement compliance strategies for new content policy regulations with product counsel and individual services.•Consult and advise Amazon services on external and internal policies for controversial content, taking into account the unique risk profile of the service.•Anticipate sources of abuse and work with services to develop mitigation strategies.•Influence product teams to incorporate risk mitigation into the product development process, and build and improve abuse detection, analytics, and internal moderation tools•Serve as advisor on high-risk escalations•Drive cross-Amazon policy initiatives in an inclusive manner that continually seeks to understand and anticipate content-related issues.We are open to hiring candidates to work out of one of the following locations:Sydney, NSW, AUSBASIC QUALIFICATIONS- Experience includes advising clients on strategy, operations, policy, enforcement, or escalations.- Knowledge of online content risks and industry standards and best practices.- Attention to detail and proven ability to manage multiple, competing priorities simultaneously.- Demonstrated ability to work in ambiguous situations and across organizational boundaries.- Excellent communication and writing skills for a non-technical audience.- 10+ years of applicable legal experience.PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS- Experience in public policy, policy communications, trust and safety policy, or policy development in the technology industry.- Knowledge of industry standards and best practices related to trust and safety, particularly related to user-generated content and particularly in at least one APAC jurisdiction.- Demonstrated ability to identify, mitigate, and manage business risks and tradeoffs in a high-pressure environment.- Proven ability to model calm behavior in a crisis, drive consensus, and operate in ambiguity.- Ability to influence without authority across teams and levels.Acknowledgement of country:In the spirit of reconciliation Amazon acknowledges the Traditional Custodians of country throughout Australia and their connections to land, sea and community.
