The Tax Accountant reporting to the Group Financial Controller will oversee both income and indirect tax matters for our organisation. As a Tax Accountant, you join a collaborative environment that ensures business objectives and corporate tax obligations are delivered on time and accurately. You will be motivated in becoming a technical tax expert, providing business support by offering high-quality tax advice and resolving tax related matters.
Core responsibilities Accountable for corporate tax compliance obligations including Tax Effect Accounting, Income Tax Return, BAS, GST, FBT, Stamp Duty, Payroll Tax for all entities including Trusts and Companies.
Proficient use and experience in Accounting ERP systems e.g., WorkDay
Experience in preparation of Financial Statements and reconciliations
Assist in maintaining and constantly improving our high standard of tax governance and tax risk management, including regular policy reviews, control testing, and process & control optimisation.
Assist in preparing tax position papers, rulings, and internal memos.
Liaise with external advisors on tax matters associated with the assigned tax portfolio.
Participate in projects across the wider business.
Remain up to date with all relevant legislation and assist in communicating relevant changes to the Team and the wider business
Adhere to guidelines, meet specified deadlines, and effectively complete allocated tasks to mitigate risk and ensure compliance with all relevant taxation legislation, internal and external reporting obligations in a timely and efficient manner.
Communication interpersonal skills; Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather data, supporting documentation, and explanations to facilitate accurate reporting.
Presentation of reports/ analysis & proposals to internal clients
Represents department in multi-divisional teams
Liaise with external auditors, regulators, and other stakeholders during audits, facilitating smooth interactions and addressing inquiries as needed.
Develops detailed monthly plans for all monthly management reporting requirements
Assists in development of annual management & statutory reporting & budget cycle plans & schedules
Analysis / Problem Solving / Innovation; Performs complex analysis & consolidates analysis performed by others.
Provides professional advice to senior staff from other business units to solve business problems
Service Delivery requirements; Assist in the management of the financial control framework, ensuring the design, implementation, and testing of controls to mitigate financial risks.
Qualifications & Experience; Qualifications Tertiary qualification in Commerce, Finance or Taxation
Experiences Previous Corporate Tax experience (either in Professional Services Firm or large Corporate)
Deep understanding of current tax laws, regulations, and accounting standards and staying up to date with changes
Exceptional ability to engage with and support stakeholders and the ability to convey tax-related information clearly
