We're looking for a Wills & Estates Law Clerk for our legal sector client! As a full-service law firm based in Ottawa, our client is looking for someone with at least 2 years of related experience assisting lawyers and has a keen eye for detail and strong time management skills. If that sounds like you, keep on reading!Salary range: $50,000 - $55,000About youTo succeed in this role, you will need:A Law Clerk diploma and a minimum of 2 years of experience working as a wills & estates clerk, or equivalentThorough knowledge of estate administration procedures and Rules of Civil ProcedureAbility to draft Wills, Powers of Attorney and probate application materials under supervision of a lawyerStrong time management skills and deadline driven; prioritize tasks as neededAbility to work well independently and within a teamTo be detail-oriented and willing to take initiativePrior experience in liaison effectively with the Court and clientsAbout the roleIf hired, you will:Draft Wills and Powers of Attorney for Property and Personal CareOrganize and keep track of estate planning documents and prepare reporting lettersDraft, update and maintain the estate documentsMaintain and enforce protocol for releasing original estate documents when requiredWork with clients to gather information to obtain a Certificate of Appointment of Estate TrusteeAscertain and prepare a list of original estate assets together with calculation of estate and administration taxReceived issued Certificate of Appointment of Estate Trustee from Court and preparation of reporting lettersPrepare necessary documents to redeem and/or transfer assets of the estateBenefits & PerksComprehensive medical and dental coverageUp to 3 weeks of vacation and PTOBe a part of an energetic and supportive environmentWant to learn more about this role or unsure if you're a fit?
