Job Description

We are looking for an experienced Linux System Administrator to join our EAME HPC team available and motivated to regularly travel on our clients’ sites. You’ll report to theEAME Remote Sites IT Manager and join a team of peers located in centres across the region.Your role involves providingonsite applications supportto external clients within theEAME region, with a strong emphasis on Middle East and North Africa countries such as Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, or Algeria. You will be in charge ofinstalling, configuring, troubleshooting, patching, and upgrading CGG software solutions. Alongside software support, you’ll also handlehardware and operating system installations, troubleshooting, and support, specifically within aLinux environment. You will work in very close collaboration with the geoscientists who have the software and scientific expertise. When not travelling, you will support the main HPC Hub in the UK. You will also be expected to participate in the innovation and development of new technologies, work with other team members to implement new features, and to help automate and analyze problem resolution. Principle Accountabilities
  • Install, configure, and validate CGG software solutions for external clients.
  • Provide onsite IT support for CGG external clients.
  • Participate in applications release building and validation.
  • Participate in IT support tickets and provide remote IT support for clients when required.
  • Engage in client meetingsto comprehend their requirements andpropose suitablesolutions.
As an integral member of our HPC team, you will collaborate with like-minded individuals, who are passionate about cutting-edge technology and innovation to solve the world´s most complex challenges. The job requires to travel regularlywithin the region, for durations going from a few days to a few months.CGG has in place a compensation policy for travels on clients’ premises.

Qualifications

  • Extensive knowledge and hands-on experience in installing, configuring, and administering Linux operating systems, preferably in an HPC environment.
  • Profound experience in installing and supporting Linux-based applications.
  • Proficiency in Linux scripting languages.
  • Familiarity with Virtualization technology on Linux.
  • Solid understanding of IP networking, TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, PXE, and firewalling concepts.
  • Experience with HPC hardware installation and maintenance (Servers/Storage/CPU/GPU).
  • Ability to work autonomously and demonstrate resilience.
  • Proficient problem-solving skills with a methodical approach to work.
  • Enthusiastic attitude towards learning and flexibility to adapt to new challenges or changes in direction.
  • Capability to define and manage project deadlines.
  • Excellent oral and written English skills are essential.
  • Effective communication abilities.
  • Experience with job scheduling systems.
  • Knowledge of database installation and administration.
  • Familiarity with some of the following: Ansible, Kickstart, Kubernetes, CI/CD, Docker, etc.
  • Understanding of License manager under Linux.
  • Advanced scripting and automation skills.
