Our ambition is to achieve net zero operation by 2030 and align the financed emissions in our portfolio of clients to net zero by 2050. We are seeking a high caliber ESG professional to join our team as Director, ESG and Carbon. Supporting the Head of Corporate Sustainability, you will be shaping and communicating the bank's corporate sustainability strategy including development and delivery of our climate ambition; advising on governance, business strategies, and risk management; and engaging with clients, regulators, investors and other stakeholders. Principal responsibilities Managing financed emission

  • Drive the Sustainability Execution Programme including financed emissions analysis and embedding, net zero policy implementation, transitioning our customers and partnerships and advocacy.
  • Develop implementation plans for the decarbonization of financed emission, including establishing a baseline, setting interim science-based reduction targets, and tracking performance by adopting internationally recognized standards, methods and benchmarks.
  • Implement sectors' decarbonization policies and the net zero transition plan, including working with businesses to identify the high-emitting customers and to assess their transition plans before formulating further engagement strategies with relationship managers.
  • Act as a subject matter expert with various sectors decarbonization knowledge, support the businesses to help identify the technologically feasible solutions and offer thought leadership in ESG capacity building and engagement with the clients.
Enhancing sustainable finance
  • Collaborate with various businesses and functions to integrate ESG considerations into business operations, processes, and decision-making.
  • Serve as go-to subject matter experts in HASE on topics such as sustainable finance taxonomy and standards, ESG disclosure, environment and climate risk management, sustainable economy opportunities, sustainability integration and sustainability policy and regulations in Hong Kong and China.
  • Support market activation by closely working with Businesses on sales activation and co-execution, proposition development, and product innovation.
  • Be a valued member in the sustainable finance team and support their priorities.
Reporting and engagement
  • Prepare and present reports with analytics on ESG performance, initiatives, and progress to senior management and stakeholders.
  • Stay updated on industry trends, regulations, and developments related to ESG and provide recommendations to enhance the bank's ESG performance.
  • Lead bank's ESG capacity building programme to enhance employee knowledge and skills on ESG and climate change topics.
  • Support engagements with regulators, government bodies and other key external stakeholders (including industry associations, investors, key NGOs and think-tanks) on sustainability and climate change agenda.
Requirements
  • Passionate about the climate change and corporate sustainability agenda.
  • Bachelor's degree in business, environmental science, engineering, finance, management, or similar qualifications.
  • Minimum 10 years' experience working with a corporate and/or professional services firm covering topics of ESG and climate change.
  • Deep knowledge of corporate ESG aspects, carbon accounting, climate/ESG risk management, decarbonization drivers and technologies, as well as current market trends and activities.
  • Professional presentation and effective communication skills and ability to present the ideas clearly and influence the senior stakeholders.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build relationships with a range of different internal and external stakeholders.
  • Strong entrepreneurial spirit and a good team player, with the ability to earn trust and respect and motivate cross-functional team members.
  • Excellent analytical skills with critical thinking.
  • Proficient in spoken and written English and Cantonese. Mandarin is a plus.
