You use traditional, currentand/or new communication channels in innovative ways and leverage your communities to amplify messaging.More functionally, the Senior Manager, Strategic Communications oversees the internal and externalcommunications functions of the Dietitians of Canada (DC) in pursuit of achieving their strategic direction.The Senior Manager, Strategic Communications collaborates with the DC Leadership Team on the annualcommunications plan in support of DC's organizational objectives. They are also a strong relationship builder -working closely with our Networks, Research Foundation and key volunteers as well as key partners tostrengthen our messaging. Using the strategic and operational plans as a guide, this person is responsible fordeveloping strategic communications plans and researching, writing, editing, executing, and evaluating allinternal and external strategic communications for DC.The Senior Manager, Strategic Communications oversees the work allocation process for all internal andexternal communications functions of DC, including policy and advocacy campaigns (e.g. Nutrition Month, Pre-Budget Submission), governance and leadership communications, programs like Conference and Nutrition Month as well as DC's publications. As such this position will maintain a detailed understanding of all objectives(operational and strategic), activities and needs of the various teams.The Senior Manager, Strategic Communications will contribute to setting the strategic direction of theorganization, developing management policies and evaluating progress on organization wide priorities andsupporting the values of the organization. You will work in tandem with the CEO and team to advance ourmission.The Manager, Strategic Communications must be flexible and solutions-oriented and have experiencemanaging people, projects, and relationships.ResponsibilitiesStrategic Communications• Lead the development of the Dietitians of Canada's aligned messaging and storytelling• Drive a multi-channel communications and social media strategy• Lead the generation of online content that engages audience segments and leads to measurable action.• Put communications vehicles in place to create momentum and awareness as well as to test theeffectiveness of communications activities• Counsel the Leadership Team., Board members and key representatives within the membership onmatters of communication issues and crisis communications.• Work cross-functionally to develop and execute communications tactics, plans, and strategies thatcontribute to a consistent voice and narrative and support the DC's strategic planning and goals• Act as the lead writer on all internal and external DC communications• Leverage key DC stakeholders as subject matter experts and consultants and ensure DCcommunications reflect the unique perspective of our community• Work cross-functionally with the policy & research and advocacy teams to ideate, develop, execute,and analyze communications strategies to support policy, research, advocacy, and partnershipdevelopmentPlanning & Management• Develop DC's communications strategies and tactics to achieve results for Canada's dietetic community• Liaise with the Leadership Team to ensure development and alignment of all communications plans andstrategies• Measure, track, and analyze data analytics, trends, and performance across all channels and report andrecommend proposed alterations to communications strategies to the CEO on an ongoing basis• Manage the communications budget including but not limited to recommending spend, solicitingquotes and RFPs, filing POs, and submitting invoices• Manage relationships with key vendors including agencies, translators, and others• Manage translation requests for all communications across the organizationEssential Skills and RequirementsWhat you'll need to have• Degree - preferably in communications, public affairs/relations, government relations, journalism or arelated discipline• 5-7 years of relevant agency, not-for-profit, or public sector experience in communications• Politically astute with experience writing policy, advocacy, and/or government relations-focusedcommunications• Fluent bilingualism (French / English) is considered a priority• Experience with strategic communications planning, staff / partner / vendor management• Demonstrated success developing and executing unique, targeted communications strategies withmeasurable, outcome-focused success• Exceptional writing and editing skills, and experience writing a wide variety of communications content(speeches, press releases, letters, website content, social media content, etc.)• Proven understanding of communications insights/trends and applying those to the creative process• Experience effectively managing multiple priorities and deadlinesYou'll really impress us if:• Experience and proficiency with a wide swath of technology platforms and services• Comfortable in a high-performance, fast-paced cultureWorking Conditions• Preference is for someone based in Ottawa, Ontario• Travel cross country is required at least 2-3 times a year (minimum)• Work from home / hybrid environment Wellness and Fitness Services
