Headquartered in Lunenburg, Nova Scotia, and with a site in Mirabel, Quebec, we operate in more than 150,000 sq feet of facilities dedicated to operations, manufacturing and administration.As Manufacturing Engineer, you will provide engineering support, direction and guidance in the fabrication of production parts in accordance with (IAW) the customer requirements, and liaise with Operations, Programs, Engineering and the customer. With your manufacturing experience you will recommend production line improvements using lean manufacturing philosophies. You have the ability work with production teams to problem solve manufacturing challenges.Your key responsibilities are:Design manufacturing processes, procedures, and protocols tailored for composite manufacturing, bonding, polymerics applications, assembly, and painting, alongside overseeing equipment installation, processing, and material handling.Craft comprehensive manufacturing and rework plans, including work instructions.Conduct thorough inspections to identify and assess defective parts, optimizing production flow to align with program deliverables.Develop detailed manufacturing bill of materials, while upholding manufacturing plans and tooling requirements, and adeptly managing engineering change implementation.Provide invaluable support to the production team by prioritizing work in process to meet delivery schedules.Act as a representative of manufacturing in various reviews, including MRB, drawing, and specifications, contributing to enhancing the design for manufacturability.Facilitate root cause analysis and implement corrective actions for process-related defects and improvements.Proactively identify production risks and execute mitigation plans, such as FMEA, to ensure seamless operations.Foster collaboration with production and quality staff to implement process enhancements and enhance operational efficiency.Contribute to proposal estimating and seamlessly transition new or revised designs from development to production.Provide support for manufacturing process validation activities and qualifications, ensuring adherence to industry standards.Collaborate with fellow employees to meticulously document and investigate safety and quality issues, fostering a culture of continuous improvement to prevent similar incidents in the future.The successful candidate will possess:Bachelor's degree in engineering or an equivalent qualification from a reputable post-secondary institution.Demonstrated expertise with 5-7 years of experience in a manufacturing setting.Registration or eligibility for registration in a Professional Engineering designation program is required.Background in design is an asset.Proven proficiency in aerostructures and composite manufacturing processes, including: composite layup and fiber placement, composite trimming and machining, bonding, sealing, and hardware installation (both composite and metal structures), finish application for both composite and metallic structures.Non-destructive inspection techniquesOutstanding communication abilities, including technical writing prowess.Strong project management acumen, encompassing scheduling, budgeting, resource management, work breakdown, estimation, progress reporting, and lessons learned.Proficiency in CAD/CAM software, with a preference for CATIA V5, and familiarity with CATIA Composite Workbench or Fibersim is beneficial.Training and knowledge in various production philosophies such as LEAN, JIT, and 5S.Capability to work with and interpret contemporary 3D part models as well as legacy 2D drawing packages, including detailed GD&T requirements.At STELIA North America, we know our people are our greatest asset.
