Title: Director, Human Resources - 1 year contract Reporting to: Chief Human Resources Officer Location: Toronto, Ontario (Hybrid - in office a minimum of 3 days per week) We have an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic, results-driven and performance-driven Director, Human Resources, to join our team. Reporting to the Chief Human Resources Officer, the Director, HR will be based in the Toronto office and will be responsible for all areas of human resources supporting North America, including but not limited to recruitment, talent and retention strategies, employee relations, health & safety, compensation & benefits, performance management and overall HR operations. The Director, HR will develop strong partnerships with management to act as a strategic business partner, coach, and consultant for all aspects of HR. In addition, the Director, HR will develop and ensure consistency and compliance in HR policies and procedures; provide quality HR services within a corporate framework and manage various HR projects, programs, and initiatives. The Director, HR will have two direct reports. Being a strategic partner. Act as strategic business partner to all areas of the business, supporting the creation and advancement of HR programs and practices, focusing on communication, execution, and participation Being a leader. Your excellent communication skills will come in handy to effectively convey HR initiatives, policies, and recommendations to diverse audiences and influence decision-making at all levels of the company. Being a hands-on change agent. As you oversee programming and strategy, you'll roll them out to great success, with an eye for change enablement. What you'll do: Develop the HR Strategy/roadmap for the business, focused on the North America client group. Design and execute HR/employee programs and initiatives in North America. Act as business partner to all functional leads and support all departments. Oversees the day-to-day HR administration tasks, providing guidance to HR Generalist and act as advisor and counsellor for all programs, policies and procedures. Coach and develop Talent Acquisition Specialist and HR Generalist to ensure personal and business goals and objectives are met. Work jointly with the Talent Acquisition Specialist to manage full cycle recruitment within North America including developing the recruitment strategy, design/deliver best practice training, refining tools & reporting and participating in the interview process as needed. Advise, coach, and consult managers with respect to performance management, employee relations, talent planning, compensation, departmental organization, company policies, disciplinary procedures, and terminations. Partner with management to ensure high employee morale, productivity and personal development with specific and measurable goals identified and a clear plan outlined. Liaise with Payroll to ensure proper processes are followed i.e., timely enrollment of employees, departmental transfers, proper payroll remittances, benefit administration, commissions, retirement, medical leaves, lay-offs, and terminations, and in accordance with company policies and government legislation. Chair Joint Health and Safety Committee through maintaining up to date knowledge of all legislation and facilitating committee meetings. Work with legal counsel (internal and external) to process immigration visas and global intercompany transfers and other legal matters. Oversee social events and other employee engagement initiatives. Support CHRO on global initiatives. What you'll need: Educational /Technical Experience: Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources, Business, or related field CHRP or CHRL designation Minimum 5-7 years of experience in an HR generalist capacity 2-4 years of supervisory/management experience Experience providing HR services to US based employees Demonstrated knowledge in employment legislation (ESA, Human Rights Code, OHSA, AODA) Advanced knowledge of the principles and practices of HR Management including demonstrated competence in various HR functional areas such as: performance management, recruitment, employee engagement, compensation, employee relations, organization structure and succession planning and health and safety HRIS experience US experience highly recommended; global experience an asset Skill and Knowledge Requirements: Excellent time management and organization skills High level of integrity, confidentiality, and accountability Sound analytical thinking, planning, prioritization, and execution skills Able to collaborate effectively and work with key business partners Proven ability to meet deadlines and work collaboratively Flexible and adaptable, able to multi-task under pressure Self-motivated with a positive, proactive mindset Superior communication (written & oral) and interpersonal skills Ability to balance HR operational tasks and projects/initiatives What you will be part of - our Venus Culture Venus believes in pushing boundaries while embracing creativity and innovation.
