Summary: HV Logic Ltd. is an Alberta-based High Voltage Electrical Engineering company that specializes in digital equipment in the power industry. Professional services include project consulting and management, electrical design, automation logic, SCADA programming, network design and configuration, cyber security assessment and planning. HV Logic Ltd. has experience delivering results for a wide range of clients in the electric utilities, oil and gas, and renewables sectors in Alberta. To support the growth of the company, HV Logic Ltd. is currently looking for an Engineer or Technologist that is willing to learn or expand on specialized skills that are currently in high demand for the power industry. The successful candidate will be joining a small company with 30 years of industry experience. Responsibilities: Ability to articulate project scope and interface with clients.Mentoring junior staffDevelop automation logic with IEC61131 programming languages.Program SCADA remote terminal units and automation controllers for communications to remote electronic devices with utility recognized protocols.Develop SCADA/HMI Graphics (Annunciators, Single Line Diagrams and Custom Graphics).Create, populate and query historians and SQL databases.Build Virtual Machine servers/clusters with various operating systems.Research, develop and test new technologies - embedded industrial controllers, cloud applications, augmented reality, IoT, Security, and 5G.Prepare digital equipment replacement electrical designs for high voltage substations based on client provided scope documents.Prepare bill of materials for design projects.Become knowledgeable with various client and industry standards.Capable of travelling to client work sites for the integration and commissioning of control and automation systems.Role will be 50% Field / 50% Office Qualifications: 5+ years Industry Experience Intermediate / 10+ years Industry Experience SeniorBachelor's degree in electrical/computer engineering or Diploma in Electronics Technologist.Eligible for registration as a Professional Engineer/Technologist with APEGGA/ASET and other provincial associations as required.Approaches work with an interest and desire to learn. Self-sufficient independent learner capable of executing tasks/projects independently.Experienced with computers, operating systems, cloud applications.Strong understanding of TCP/IP networking concepts.Ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of computer programming languages and concepts.Possess strong written and oral communication skills.Possess strong organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.Advanced problem-solving skills.Aptitude towards fast moving modern technologies and customizing/applying them to real world applications. Experience with any of the following would be considered an asset: Protocols such as SEL, DNP3, Modbus, IEC 61850, and OPC.High voltage electrical experience for electric utilities, renewables and oil, and gas.Programming languages Python, Java, C++, VB, and SQL.Ethernet IP networks, and serial communication.Configuration of network switches, routers, firewalls, and gateways.Microsoft Excel including custom macros.Vendor knowledge for any of GE Energy/Harris, Cooper Power Systems, Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories, SUBNET Solutions, ABB, Siemens, Schneider Electric, Belden, Orion, Survalent and Trihedral (VTScada).Protocol analyzers such as ASE2000 test set.Communication troubleshooting software such as WireShark.Network vulnerability testing tools such as Nmap port scans.VM Ware suite of virtual machine client and servers.
