This firm has an excellent culture and a lot of career development opportunities. - Full service boutique law firm specializing in business law, civil litigation, family law, real estate and tax and estate planning.- Top tier Toronto law firm!- Conveniently located in the heart of the Financial District! Duties and Responsibilities: - Provide legal clerking and administrative support to lawyers;- Reviewing, summarizing, and analyzing initiating documents and file materials;- Prepare correspondence and court documents (i.e.: applications, pleadings, notices of motion, affidavits in support of various motions, affidavits of documents, pre-trial briefs and motion records);- Preparing for Examinations for Discoveries (managing next steps, arranging dates, serving Notices, preparing electronic productions, and managing undertakings)- Proofread and edit legal documents;- Maintain a reminder/bring forward system, updating pleadings index;- Assist with docketing and client billing;- Arranging surveillance and other investigations and preparing all related documentation, liaising with investigator and reporting to client and counsel and- Perform other duties as needed. Requirements: - Post-secondary diploma in a recognized law clerk program, or combination of education and experience;- University degree preferred;- 5+ years general litigation environment, insurance defence experience is an asset;- Understanding of the Federal Court Rules and an understanding of legal terminology;- Strong technical skills (MS Word, Excel, Outlook, Adobe Pro, ACL, NetDocs, Acumin);- Dependable and punctual team player;- Excellent communication, interpersonal and time management skills;- Strong proficiency with MS Office and Adobe PDF;- Excellent interpersonal and client services skills ; and- Ability to work with minimal supervision, independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
