Responsible for a variety of duties involving financial data analysis, schedule preparation, typical accounting functions, and involvement in financial reporting for the System and Affiliates. Major Responsibilities:  Prepares a variety of financial reports for both internal and external requirements. Prepares and records asset, liability, revenue, and expenses entries by compiling and analyzing account information. Researches and collects data to be used in transactions. Maintains and balances subsidiary accounts by verifying, allocating, posting, reconciling transactions; resolving discrepancies. Studies and analyzes the revenue trends and expenses of the company so that they are appropriately recorded monthly. Generates, analyzes, reviews and communicates financial data that reflects actual finance performance against the budget. Executes usual accounting functions, which includes operating the general ledger system and month-end close work. Performs regular and recurring accounting functions that require professional competence. Assists in the documentation, monitoring and maintenance of internal accounting controls. Applies the financial policies and procedures of the company and departmental policies and procedures. Identifies and resolves accounting discrepancies and irregularities, Ensures accurate and timely monthly, quarterly and year end close processes. Monitors and supports taxation requirements. Prepares tax schedules and applies basic knowledge of tax rules to assist in tax reports and returns. Develops and maintains financial databases. Prepares for financial audits and coordinates the audit process. Oversees accurate and appropriate recording and analysis of revenues and expenses. Collects and analyzes financial information to recommend or develop efficient use of resources and procedures, provides strategic recommendations and maintains solutions to business and financial problems. Uses full extent of available tools in daily processes. Ensures compliance with relevant laws and regulations and integrity of financial data. Advises and assists as a Finance liaison in the preparation and completion of annual budget and forecasts.Assists in support function of Staff Accountants. Assists in staff development, training and understanding of computer systems, financial statement accounts, and other issues as needed.Maintains documentation as required for audit purposes. Assists in preparation of audit work papers and assists auditors as necessary.Prepares and submits required survey information.Position Qualifications: License/Certification/Education: Required:Bachelor's degree in Accounting/FinanceExperience/Skills:Required: - Minimum of two years of progressive accounting experience. - Thorough understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). - Strong analytical and accounting skills. Attention to detail and accuracy.  - Intermediate to advanced experience with MS Word, MS Excel, MS Outlook, MS PowerPoint, MS Access or similar programs. - Must be able to effectively handle multiple projects simultaneously in a fast paced, deadline driven environment. - Workload prioritizing, planning, organizing and abilities. Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills. - Ability to work independently and as part of a team and take on new tasks with high level of difficulty.
