Our Engineering team has grown a lot in the last 12 months and we are looking to add an additional Senior Engineering Manager to our leadership team to take ownership over some of our Squads. In this role you will be assisting in developing the Fuel50 SaaS application by getting things done through others, by leading, growing and developing people, refining and creating processes, and using technology to solve business problems. You will execute and partake in evolving a recruitment strategy that will attract the best talent and develop onboarding, training and development programs for engineering staff to ensure that key talent is retained. This is leadership role which involves managing other leaders in the Engineering team, such as Tech Team Leads, Principal Engineers, and I.C Leads, though the makeup of the team will evolve over time and may also involve having mentees which are not direct line reports. The role is focussed on Process Refinement, Recruiting, Team Building, Agile practices & planning, Scoping & Requirements definition, as well as mentoring and leading other team leaders and technical staff. You will be working closely with Product Managers to facilitate feature delivery and understand the product goals, and to find ways that these can be measured. Working closely with a Platforms Lead (if any) or Platforms Engineers you will ensure application is scalable, reliable and that the right information is being logged and recorded to enable resolution of production issues within SLA’s. This role will involve creating a world class product with involvement in all aspects of the product lifecycle, from gathering requirements, brainstorming ideas, market analysis, MVP definition, to building an MVP and working with your team to deliver the MVP into production, and then supporting the product suite once in production. The Senior Engineering Manager will be reporting to the Chief Technology Officer. This will involve working closely with the business users and working in an Agile environment.

  • 13+ years of experience in tech, including 6+ years of Engineering Management experience (or equivalent engineering leadership experience), leading lead tech team leads and multiple squads.
  • You have solid knowledge of software architecture principles and design patterns, and how to apply standards across a team, holding your teams accountable to quality & velocity KPI's
  • You enjoy collaborating & motivating people, doing 1:1's, coaching, mentoring. You know how to get the best out of people and what makes them 'tick'. You'll be metrics focussed and experienced in measuring and managing performance.
  • You'll have boat loads of initiative and enjoy being proactive, you are able to quickly identify pragmatic solutions
  • Communication will be a key strength, you'll be able work effectively with people from cross-functional areas & be skilled at establishing cohesive business-centric solutions
  • You've worked in a SaaS environment where being laser-focussed on prioritization of work streams is essential
  • You're well versed in Agile - comfortable leading Sprint planning meetings.
