This is a permanent FT job for an internist and respiratory physician with skills in fibreoptic bronchoscopy, EBUS and reporting on sleep studies and respiratory lung function tests. Some general medical cover will be required ( on call duties and holiday cover). Knowledge and ability to manage cystic fibrosis patients and any experience in the supervision of respiratory function laboratory is desirable.  The Respiratory team also includes nurse practitioners, clinical nurse specialists, sleep and respiratory laboratory technicians/physiologists, and respiratory physiotherapists. The service provides comprehensive specialist outpatient and inpatient respiratory services, and primary health care support including community based clinics. Supporting services on site include radiology, nuclear medicine, radiation and medical oncology. The oncology services covers lung cancer treatment for a wider region. An EBUS service is being introduced to support lung cancer treatment for a wider region. Cardiothoracic surgical services are provided in Wellington as the tertiary  Key Role Responsibilities and Duties

  1. You will be deliver clinical care to patients requiring specialist respiratory medicine services , conduct outpatient clinics and ward rounds, and other duties, using the allocated time efficiently and effectively towards achieving the goals of the Annual Plan.
  2. You will share on-call duty periods, providing 24 hour cover for the acute medicine service.
  3. You will when necessary, assist in the management of patients with medical emergencies.
  4. You will see and advise promptly on patients referred for a specialist opinion; provide and/or supervise clinical care including the assessment, investigation, treatment and appropriate referral of patients who present to the Respiratory Service.
  5. You will participate positively in team development and change management
  6. You will provides clinical supervision and teaching for House Surgeons and Registrars and provide education for Medical Officers, resident medical officers, and other staff as appropriate, both formally and informally.
Role Requirements To be successful in your application to this excellent opportunity as the Consultant Respiratory Physician, we are looking to identify the following on your profile and past history:
  1. Medical Degree and FRACP or equivalent specialist qualification in respiratory medicine
  2. Eligibility for Medical Council of New Zealand registration under the vocational pathway in Internal Medicine / Respiratory Medicine
  3. Demonstrated understanding of departmental / service development and the provision of strong clinical governance.
Remuneration and Benefits If successful in your application to work as Consultant Endocrinologist you can expect the following benefits:
  1. A basic salary in the range of NZD 190000-270000 pa DOE
  2. Six weeks annual leave per annum
