Head of Water Compliance at Wellington Water, Wellington - Wairarapa

It is an exciting time to be working in the water sector, not only are you at the forefront of looking after our most precious assets: water, human health and welfare and the environment, but proposed changes for the sector is increasing awareness around the importance of managing our waters and creating new opportunities. The opportunity Reporting to the Regulatory Services Director, our Head of Water Compliance is a key player for our drinking water safety and regulatory plans. You will provide assurance leadership across our operating performance and planning to drive continual improvements and compliance. This role will be the key liaison with external regulation stakeholders and oversee monitoring and investigation into regulatory compliance across our three waters; storm water, wastewater and drinking water. As a compliance champion, you will utilise your prior experience with investigations and operational planning as you provide prompt, pragmatic and analytical advice to Senior Leadership on regulatory compliance and the associated risks. You will also provide detailed reports to key external and internal stakeholders and collaboratively drive performance improvements across our operational processes. About you To be successful in this role you will bring:
  • demonstrated experience within investigations and operational planning in a regulated industry
  • proven experience in prioritising workloads and improving process from an audit and compliance perspective
  • experience in operational internal auditing/assurance or compliance activities
  • ability to identify, mitigate and manage risks within a similar or high risk industry
  • knowledge of how committees and governance functions operate
  • ability to build strong relationships and gain buy-in from senior stakeholders
  • ability to translate complex direction, regulations and policy into achievable action plans
  • a full and clean class 1 driver's licence
  • some leadership experience is desirable.

Wellington Water are offering a remuneration between $112,803 to 132,709 (inc super annuation contributions) with the potential for increases and higher earnings based on experience and performance, feel free to contact us if you would like to discuss the remuneration for this role.
