Main Objectives Directs the activities of assigned clerical engaged in processing materials procurement and carries out local and foreign purchasing activities. Checks purchase request for materials and services for proper completion, invites bids and quotations, prepares purchase evaluations/quotations analysis and submits recommendations for selection of appropriate bidder. Prepares and dispatches Purchase Orders and ensures orders are progressed until materials are received. Maintains current list of approved suppliers. Main Duties o Directs and supervises the activities of assigned personnel in the Purchasing Unit. Performs supervisory duties and exercises financial authority at the level established by Management for the position. o Receives Purchase Requests for materials, equipment and services, checks for correct description and charge account, proper authorization and other relevant data. o Institutes inquiries either by telephone, email or sends Request for quotations form to approved suppliers for materials to be purchased from local or foreign supplier. o Obtains competitive quotations tender, with full specs, catalogues, brochures and other data from suppliers, prepares quotations analysis and submits recommendations to supervisors based on best price, quality and delivery times and terms of payment. o Receives approval of the quotation analysis negotiates discounts and better payment terms, prepares purchase order on selected supplier giving full details of materials or services required, obtains signatures and distributes approved purchase order according to an established procedure. Dispatches original to suppliers for action and copy to progress supervisor for follow-up. Authorized to sign purchase order where value is up to BD. 1000/-. o Ensures Purchase orders are progressed until materials are received. Includes answering queries from requisitioning department regarding status of orders, preparing amendment forms for cancellation of orders, contacting local suppliers by phone to follow up on late deliveries. o Almost daily receives business representatives from local and abroad, discusses matters relating to purchasing and tries to get the best prices and terms etc. o Complying with Company's and airport authorities Health, Safety & Security regulations. o Carries out other similar or related duties such as acknowledging routine sales promotion correspondence from suppliers and obtaining samples as required. Minimum Requirements Education: Completion of Secondary (12 years) education. Experience: 2-3 years’ experience in purchasing activities. Other Essential Requirements: o Good knowledge of written and spoken English with high standard of integrity. o Valid light driving license. #J-18808-Ljbffr
