JOB PURPOSE Conduct the maintenance (preventive, corrective, and breakdown) of all QC & RTGs and other related equipment in the most efficient and effective manner, ensuring jobs are completed quickly and cost-effectively while adhering to quality and safety protocols. Key Responsibilities:

  1. Carry out mechanical maintenance, fault finding, and monitoring of the crane and other related equipment, performing tasks assigned by the Supervisor.
  2. Submit routine inspection and monitoring reports as required.
  3. Ensure accurate, up-to-date information is provided in the work order for input into the system.
  4. Attend breakdowns reported by Staff & Equipment Control immediately.
  5. Conduct all preventive and corrective maintenance activities meticulously, ensuring all checklist items are completed within stipulated times.
  6. Follow up on emergency work by reporting to the Foreman.
  7. Ensure work practices conform to safety regulations and procedures.
  8. Generate work orders (in coordination with the optimization team) for all mechanical work performed on cranes.
  9. Submit correct information about the start time and end time of maintenance activities.
  10. Ensure tidiness and cleanliness of workshop facilities and all equipment for which the team is responsible.
  11. Record the number and nature of accidents and ensure safety principles are followed.
  12. Maintain constant communication with the Supervisor to ensure effective crane workshop operations.
  13. Responsible for maintaining safety and discipline in the work area.
  14. Ensure compliance with Fatal Risk Standards, Safe Work Practices, and HSE policy.
  15. Report accidents and ‘near misses’ in accordance with defined safety procedures.
Skills:
  • Experience in container terminals and Quay cranes/RTGs (Mandatory: 2 to 3 years).
Education:
  • Preferable: Diploma in mechanical engineering.
Detailed knowledge of a wide range of mechanical equipment, diesel engines, transmissions, pneumatic & hydraulic systems, brakes, etc. Knowledge about lifting chains and wire ropes. Conversant with technical/parts manuals and drawings. Fully conversant with safety procedures. Good communication skills. #J-18808-Ljbffr
