The College is a not-for-profit organisation that represents more than 8600 surgeons and 1300 surgical trainees and Specialist International Medical Graduates. RACS also supports healthcare and surgical education in the Asia-Pacific region and is a substantial funder of surgical research. There are nine surgical specialties in Australasia being: Cardiothoracic Surgery, General Surgery, Neurosurgery, Orthopaedic Surgery, Otolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery, Paediatric Surgery, Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, Urology and Vascular Surgery.
About the role
In this role, you will be responsible for key assessment functions within the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (RACS) which includes the delivery of the range of examinations and management of the Specialist International Medical Graduate (SIMG) and SET assessment processes. These functions are crucial for the pipeline of specialist surgeons across Australia and Aotearoa New Zealand.Skills and experience
- Tertiary qualification in Education and Assessment, preferably with experience working with SIMG assessments
- Significant experience in the management and delivery of large-scale examinations or assessments in a complex environment
- Demonstrated expertise in standard-setting approaches and psychometric methodologies applicable to knowledge, skills, and applied knowledge assessments.
- Comprehensive understanding of progressive and summative assessment models, including their role in supporting decisions on competence.
- Experience in implementing and overseeing holistic evaluation methodologies (e.g., CIPP) to drive continuous improvement across assessment programs
- Exceptional people leadership skills with demonstrable experience in managing a team of professionals in an educational context.
