  • Full time, newly created role
  • Rare opportunity to shape a global practice in decarbonisation
The Company Our client is an award-winning, full-service global impact consultancy combines science, strategy, and storytelling to drive meaningful change. By partnering with motivated leaders, organisations, and industries, it reimagines sustainability for lasting, positive impact. While sustainability is a priority for many, commitments and targets alone are no longer sufficient—real action is needed. With a team of experts that includes strategists, economists, engineers, and creatives from around the world, the consultancy provides guidance through complexity and develops enduring roadmaps. Since 2008, it has been helping businesses, organisations, industries, and societies turn ambition into transformation. The Role As a Principal Consultant – Decarbonisation, you will lead strategies to reduce emissions and develop solutions such as economic modelling for clients’ sustainability goals. This role combines technical expertise with commercial insight, requiring leadership and influence. You will collaborate across industries, develop tailored solutions, and contribute to thought leadership. The role also includes mentoring and fostering high-performance teams. Ideally based in Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide, or Auckland, but other locations across Australia will be considered for the right candidate. Key Roles and Responsibilities
  • Client Advisory: Advise on decarbonisation strategies, focusing on Scope 3 emissions in Australian supply chains. Develop and implement evidence-based, tech-enabled plans.
  • Strategy Development: Create tailored, industry-aligned decarbonisation strategies.
  • Business Development: Expand decarbonisation services by identifying opportunities, contributing to proposals, and building client relationships.
  • Expertise Areas: Carbon accounting, Scope 3 analysis, economic modelling, tech & data strategies, and pre-assurance methods.
  • Industry Knowledge: Address decarbonisation challenges in sectors like built environment, agriculture, livestock, textiles, and wine.
  • Implementation Leadership: Ensure strategies are actionable and aligned with business goals.
  • Regulatory Guidance: Advise on local policies and initiatives.
  • Team Leadership: Mentor and develop team members.
  • Thought Leadership: Represent the company at industry events, sharing insights on decarbonisation.
About You Beyond technical proficiency, you are a natural leader—mentoring teams, influencing stakeholders, and fostering innovation. Your ability to translate sustainability goals into commercially viable solutions makes you a trusted advisor to clients across industries, including the built environment, agriculture, textiles, and supply chains. Passionate about driving meaningful change, you thrive in dynamic, purpose-driven environments where collaboration and thought leadership are key. If you are ready to shape the future of decarbonisation and make a tangible difference, this role is your opportunity to lead transformation at a global scale. Required Skills and Proficiencies
  • Degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, Supply Chain Management, or related field.
  • Postgraduate qualification in Sustainability, Climate Change, or Business (MBA) preferred.
  • Membership in professional bodies (e.g., EIANZ, Supply Chain Sustainability School) is a plus.
  • Decarbonisation Expertise: Proven ability to design and implement Scope 3 emissions reduction strategies and economic modeling.
  • Consulting Experience: 10+ years in sustainability consulting, delivering commercially viable solutions.
  • In-House Experience: Success in sustainability, supply chain, or procurement roles, translating strategy into action.
  • Industry Knowledge: Understanding of decarbonisation challenges in sectors like environment, agriculture, livestock, textiles, and wine.
  • Analytical Skills: Expertise in data analysis, carbon accounting, and tools aligned with Australian/NZ standards.
  • Leadership: Experience leading teams, managing complex projects, and influencing stakeholders.
  • Communication: Strong ability to convey complex information clearly and effectively.
