Job Description Responsibilities

  1. Direct and lead specialist training functions and conduct specialist training in support of TSI.
  2. Ensure the general welfare of students in assigned areas during training activities and monitor their performance so that each individual achieves maximum progress towards the training objectives.
  3. Carry out analysis, design, production, development and delivery of new and existing training courses, ensuring they are aligned to meet the customer’s needs in terms of time, cost and specification.
  4. Research, write and validate advanced training notes. Deliver/Supervise practical based OJT / training consolidation.
  5. Provide specialist training inputs as a subject matter expert to the bidding process in response to customer enquiries and training proposals.
  6. Specify, design and develop appropriate and effective training aids including computer aided instruction and advanced desktop training systems to ensure course delivery within TSI, the customers training facilities, or in line with contractual deliverables.
  7. Produce training support materials including curriculum, training objectives, syllabuses, course plans, and assessment and evaluation methods to satisfy customers training requirements.
  8. Maintain and review the required levels of technical expertise to ensure compatibility with technical advances and in line with current and developing needs.
  9. Conduct cadet assessment and evaluation exercises and implement remedial action as required.
  10. Plan, control and deliver assigned courses, and contribute support to cross-discipline courses/investigations, ensuring requirements are delivered to plan.
  11. Counsel students with regard to their academic performance or behaviour as required.
  12. Maintain classroom procedures as published in the TSI, including the maintenance of discipline.
  13. Keep abreast of developments in the subject and be willing to attend staff development courses as required by the RSAF or Company.
  14. Understand the design and operation of complex and integrated systems to teach detailed maintenance procedures, fault diagnosis, and defect rectification.
  15. Operate complex training aids and simulators.
  16. Demonstrate supervisory ability within an operational training environment.
  17. Exhibit sound business awareness and good interpersonal skills to teach specialist skills and knowledge across a range of cultures, status, intellect, and technical ability.
  18. Be well motivated, adaptable, and flexible to operate in a highly complex technical environment with minimal supervision.
  19. Understand what is required to meet internal and external customer requirements.
  20. Possess strong analytical skills and good knowledge of relevant analytical techniques.
  21. Able to apply relevant internal and external processes and procedures for self and others.
  22. Have detailed knowledge in the operation and use of IT systems to support relevant systems (computer aided instruction, desktop publishing, databases, training development software).
  23. Demonstrate well-developed planning and organising skills to meet the precise timings required by training programmes and programme plans.
  24. Use the TMIS / LMS system to maintain accurate, up-to-date, comprehensive, orderly, and easily accessible training records.

  10. Perform any other duties as deemed reasonable and appropriate by the business.
Job Requirements:
  1. A City & Guilds Level 3 Diploma in Electronic Communication Maintenance (Electronic Communication Technician).
  2. Graduate of an advanced military trade school or an EASA Part 147 training establishment with 5 years practical experience across the full range of Electronic Communication systems.
  3. Specialty Instructors whose native language is not English shall have a standard of English language as appropriate to their role. The PC shall ensure English language standards are maintained in the staff through training and regular testing, where appropriate.
  4. All new SN specialty Instructors will be required to provide an in-date IELTS certificate with a minimum overall score of IELTS 5.0 and speaking and listening band scores at 5.0 when recruited.
  5. A recognised formal instructor qualification.
  6. A minimum of 2 years teaching/instructional experience within the last 6 years.
  7. Familiarity with a Defence College of Aeronautical Engineering (DCAE) Cosford Syllabus is desirable.
  8. The ability to deliver course material in clear and appropriately graded English is essential.
