Kearney, Senior Regional Legal Counsel, Riyadh Office About the job As the Senior Regional Legal Counsel in our Riyadh office, you will provide strategic legal advice, develop innovative solutions, mitigate risks, and ensure compliance with laws and regulations across different jurisdictions. As a trusted advisor, you will support the firm’s operations, client engagements, and corporate activities while managing a wide array of legal matters, including contracts, corporate governance, regulatory compliance, dispute resolution, and support the business growth and expansion across the Middle East & Africa region. This position allows the right candidate to work in an intellectually challenging, exciting, and fast-paced business environment. The position reports directly to the MEA Legal Director/ Associate General Counsel, and works closely with senior business team members, serving as lead counsel on strategic deals, and providing important advice. Key responsibilities
- Providing effective, accurate and swift legal advice on all areas of law (including employment law and compliance related matters) as required by the businesses and functions within the MEA region.
- Drafting, reviewing, and negotiating a wide range of commercial agreements, including consulting service agreements, RFPs, JV & consortiums, procurement agreements, sub-consultancy agreements and non-disclosure agreements; with particular focus on public sector and government contracts.
- Managing corporate matters pertaining to A.T. Kearney’s RHQ and other entities within the MEA region, and project-manage new entity setups.
- Identifying legal and commercial risks and issues for the business and propose solutions for risk avoidance and/or mitigation.
- Teaming successfully across the firm and integrate fully into the Global Legal Team to resolve or support resolution of complex legal issues.
- Effectively collaborates and acts as bridge and point of contact across functions/teams, orchestrating communication, and cooperation to tackle complex challenges, resolving legal issues, and achieve shared objectives.
- Manages multiple initiatives, effectively prioritizing tasks and developing detailed workplans to meet deadlines while maintaining exceptional quality standards.
- Manages and resolves interpersonal conflicts with high integrity, identifies potential conflicts and develops mitigation strategies.
- Oversee corporate governance matters, including board resolutions, entity management, and compliance filings.
- Independently writes well-structured, concise, and persuasive documents and communications tailored to various audiences across the firm.
- Analyzes internal stakeholder’s agendas and priorities to anticipate and craft solutions to their needs.
- Drives impactful initiatives that directly support firm-wide objectives, leading to tangible improvements in productivity, quality, and overall impact of function/group.
- Independently performs legal or compliance tasks of modest to high complexity.
- Supports the Legal Unit and the MEA Legal Director in interactions with partners, Management Services (Support Functions) and clients.
- Develops expertise and acts as SME to team members in specialized areas of law or compliance.
- Managing and developing business relationships with external law firms and relevant regulatory bodies.
- Keep abreast of, monitor, and flag any new legal and regulatory developments across the MEA region and consider their impact on A.T. Kearney’s business and operations.
- Conduct legal research, due diligence exercise on various multijurisdictional legal issues.
- Are 9-11 years PQE, licensed from a recognized jurisdiction with a preference to those with mix law firm and in-house work experience.
- Are fully bilingual (English and Arabic). The right candidate should be skilled enough and confident in his/her ability to draft and negotiate legal documents in both languages.
- Have knowledge and experience in Government Procurement and contracts would be an advantage.
- Have prior experience with legal work in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia would be a distinguishing advantage. Candidates with prior experience in Project Finance, M&A, and non-contentious construction law would be a plus.
- Have ability to combine exceptional attention to detail with deep understanding of big picture.
- Have a strong impression in verbal and written communications.
- Have a strong understanding of data protection regulations (e.g., GDPR), anti-corruption laws, and cross-border legal issues.
- Are a strategic thinker with a proactive approach to identifying and mitigating risks.
- Possess strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to influence and advise senior stakeholders.
- Are capable of handling ambiguous situations with a solution-oriented approach.
- Have familiarity with regional laws and regulations across the Middle East, Africa, or other relevant jurisdictions.
- Have ability to manage legal matters involving multiple jurisdictions.
