Job Purpose As an Infrastructure Engineer, you will be responsible for the design of on-premises, co-located, and cloud infrastructure in support of business and IT requirements. Working with other members of the Information Technology team, you'll be responsible for the design, development, deployment/installation, and maintenance of IT infrastructure and solutions within on-premises, collocated, and cloud-native environments. Ongoing patching, service maintenance and monitoring, automation improvements, and alerting capabilities will be a key part of this role. On a day-to-day basis you will work directly with us and our suppliers to ensure all projects and solutions meet the business need. Key Responsibilities

  1. High-availability infrastructure design, installation, and maintenance.
  2. Low-level configuration of on-premises and co-located IT infrastructure and networks.
  3. Installation and maintenance of security solutions, including firewalls.
  4. Configuration and low-level management of VMware, vSphere, and VMs.
  5. Deployment and management of key services in high-availability configurations:
    1. Microsoft SQL Server and other database technologies.
    2. Microsoft Exchange Server and other collaboration technologies.
    3. Microsoft Active Directory and other directory technologies.
    4. Microsoft Dynamics including Dynamics 365 on-premises.
  6. Design and delivery of failover/contingency, data backup, and recovery capabilities.
  7. Implementation of production service monitoring and alerting.
  8. Technical documentation, including the creation of support and helpdesk instructions.
Experience Required
  1. Minimum 8 years experience within IT engineering roles with infrastructure focus.
  2. Minimum 5 years experience of the installation, high-availability configuration, data backup/restoration, and operational running of key Microsoft technologies, including:
    1. Microsoft SQL Server
    2. Microsoft Exchange Server
    3. Microsoft Active Directory
    4. Microsoft Dynamics
  3. Minimum 4 years experience working within virtualized environments, preferably with experience of VMware, vSphere, and VMs in high-availability configurations.
  4. Proficiency with design and development of on-premises and co-located infrastructure.
  5. Proven experience deploying pragmatic achievable solutions within given timeframes.
  6. Knowledge of industry standards in respect to networks and application security.
  7. Experience in environment and capacity planning, scaling and high-availability solutions.
  8. Experience in environment monitoring and auditing, and ability to remediate issues.
  9. Experience in live troubleshooting across the full stack, including handling of log files.
  10. Ability to work within an Agile environment.
  11. Understanding of requirements when working with financial services clients.
  12. Experience in cloud technologies (AWS, Azure, GCP) is advantageous, but not essential.
Technical and Personal Skills
  1. Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  2. Foundation technologies, such as Linux, VMs, networking, and gateways.
  3. Infrastructure technology including virtual networks and network security.
  4. Knowledge of low-level networking protocols and routing (TCP/IP, MLPS, etc.)
  5. One or more scripting and/or automation languages (e.g. Python, Bash).
  6. Appropriate industry certification(s) in relation to key solutions (Microsoft, VMware, etc.).
  7. Tools and diagram techniques to support and articulate infrastructure design.
  8. Familiarity with DevOps and/or DevSecOps practices.
  9. Familiarity with application-layer protocols, such as
  10. Familiarity with application-layer solutions, such as containerization and service mesh.
