JOB DESCRIPTION JOB TITLE Engineer- FAS & FSS LEVEL & GRADE - B2 DIVISION/ DEPARTMENT Electronics & Instrumentation (E&I)
- JOB PURPOSE
- PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES
- 1. Installation, Maintenance, and upkeep of Electronics & Instrumentation systems.
- 2. Have a clear understanding of the safety, operations, maintenance, and troubleshooting concepts of the Fire Alarm Systems and Fire Suppression Systems.
- 3. Works with Service Desk tool and other department staff as appropriate to determine and resolve problems received from internal/external users.
- 4. Actively takes part in the Project execution of the E&I system and provides excellent supervision and control by closely monitoring the deliverables by the vendors/contractors and bringing to the DMs/Reporting Manager’s notice in case of any discrepancy.
- 5. Good troubleshooting and analytical skills on all products of E&I systems.
- 6. Ensure that all the E&I equipment’s communication network is “UP” and running.
- Upkeep the systems by following PM schedules.
- Attends calls and provides resolution within the agreed SLA time frame.
- Take initiative in project activities and assist the team in project documentation, UATs, SATs, and HOTO.
- Follows SLAs and provides resolutions on time.
- Monitors communications, and system network health and takes preventive measures to ensure the intact performance of the systems.

- Knowledge and work skills [Indicate what knowledge (machines, equipment, processes, systems, etc.,) and work skills are required] Expert knowledge of:
- Supervise the installation of fire alarm panels, detectors, and control devices. Ensure proper commissioning and functional testing of the systems.
- Ensure that fire alarm systems are properly integrated with other building systems such as HVAC, security, and emergency systems.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot complex issues with fire alarm systems, including wiring, hardware malfunctions, and false alarms. Oversee maintenance schedules to ensure continued system reliability.
- Ensure compliance with fire safety regulations, building codes, and standards. Conduct system inspections and tests to ensure compliance and safety of the occupants.
- Supervise and mentor junior engineers and technicians, providing guidance on system design, troubleshooting, and installation practices.
- Prepare detailed technical reports, system designs, maintenance logs, and as-built drawings.
- · 5+ years of experience in designing, installing, and maintaining fire alarm systems.
- · In-depth knowledge of fire safety codes and standards (e.g., NFPA 72).
- · Experience with fire alarm system manufacturers will be preferrable (e.g., Honeywell, Siemens, JCI, BOSCH).
- · Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- · Ability to lead a team and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Knowledge of systems like Building Management Systems, Programmable Logic Controllers, Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition, Distributed Control Systems, Advanced Visual Docking Guiding Systems, Very Early Smoke Detection Apparatus, and Water Leakage Detection Systems is an added advantage.
- Knowledge of the IBM Maximo Asset Management/SAP application will be an added advantage.
- Knowledge of server and client workstations and networking.
