- Fully qualified BComm Accountant (incl post graduate qualifications) able to function under pressure to meet challenging reporting deadlines. Attention to high level of accuracy in daily processes essential.
- Responsible for the formal approval and release of journals for allocated Ledger area (e.g. fixed assets, payroll, bank and cash, etc) prepared by business or country accounting teams.
- Provides monthly accounting governance and closing activities for the allocated GL area (e.g. Revenue recognition, fixed assets, payroll, or bank and cash, etc).
- Assume over responsibility to provide support and for the on-time reporting of Regional company and Branch.
- Monitors ledger account reconciliations prepared by Global Service Centre and the business/legal entity and follows up and clears anomalies identified.
- Performs quarterly Balance Sheet reviews and investigates and clears anomalies.
- Ensures that changes to IFRS and other local guidelines are implemented by the businesses/legal entities in a timely manner, in close cooperation with Accounting Competence team.
- Completes projects concerning improvements of general financial processes and implementation of new accounting standards.
- External and Internal Contacts:
- Internal: Accounting teams, Business unit Commercials and internal service providers i.e global Accounting Service Centres units.
- External: Auditors, Banks, external Service Providers.
- 3-5+ years relevant experience
- BCom Accounting, CIMA, or equivalent qualification
- Excellent working knowledge of SAP and IFRS
- Ability to quickly develop a detailed business understanding and how responsibilities fit in to the bigger picture
- Ability critically analyses processes with a view to improve quality and efficiency through digitisation and automation.
