The VacancyAn opportunity has arisen for a highly disciplined and experienced Marine consultant to join our offices in UAE to help deliver high-level consultancy services.The successful candidate's duties and responsibilities will include:Prepare comprehensive environmental reports including, but not limited to, scoping reports, environmental, social and health impact assessment (ESHIA) reports, strategic environmental assessments (SEAs), feasibility studies, environmental, social and health management plans (ESHMPs), audit reports, and environmental monitoring reports in line with national legislation, standards and guidelines, and relevant international standards, guidelines, and best practices.Consult with stakeholders and effectively manage sub-consultants.Develop and maintain relationships with clients and regulatory authorities.Provide technical input, co-ordination, review, and direction on projects.Support the wider team, including mentoring junior staff as and when required.Manage project financial performance and meeting profit targets.Prepare and manage multi-disciplinary tenders and seek opportunities for new work.Willingness to travel extensively throughout the region for marine based fieldwork.Assist colleagues when they are under pressure to meet clients expectations.Represent the company at external events as required and directed including those relating to professional membership and business development.Aim to achieve utilisation target as agreed with line manager.Desired experience:Degree in a relevant environmental discipline (such as marine ecology, oceanography, coastal marine science, marine environmental management, marine conservation, marine geography, marine planning, remote sensing, environmental science).Over 15 years experience of delivering consultancy services to a range of clients, working directly for clients and meeting their expectations with deliverables.A specialism at least in one of the following areas marine modelling, marine water and sediment quality, corals, seagrass, mangroves, marine ecology (flora and fauna), etc.PADI rescue diver or equivalent, would be preferable.Solid understanding of the ESHIA process (including screening and scoping), national and international environmental legislation, standards and guidelines and international project financing mechanisms and implications.Ability to lead multi-disciplinary teams working on a range of environmental inputs across energy and infrastructure projects, as applicable, and at least 5 years of proven direct management.Ability to chair social / environmental impact identification (S/ENVID) workshops for energy and infrastructure projects.Provide technical alternatives and solutions to technical clarifications to the clients in an energy and infrastructure setting.Negotiate with regulators to achieve the best environmental outcome for the client.Project management skills, including programming, staff resource management, and budget management.Ability to lead meetings with colleagues and clients and positively influence the discussions.Quality assurance and quality control technically reviewing and approving the work produced by the project team.Contribute to developing a pipeline of work.An excellent understanding of project management requirements including how and where information is saved, requirements for version control and the requirement for technical and commercial reviews for projects and tenders.An appreciation that contractual conditions affect a business and an understanding of the process to getting these reviewed and understood when submitting tenders and undertaking project work.Very good writing skills and the ability to produce robust and comprehensive written deliverables on behalf of the business.Very good competence in the use of Excel and the ability to interrogate, analyse and present data within spreadsheets.Very good competence in the use of PowerPoint and the ability to produce presentations using RSK templates and present these to clients and colleagues.Ability to listen effectively and work collaboratively with clients, other RSK colleagues (including within the wider RSK Group) and team members to ensure instructions are understood and carried out correctly.Ability to communicate confidently and effectively with peers relating to project work including the ability to ask for help when needed.Effective at delegating project work to junior members of staff, setting shared objectives and ensuring they are exposed to the right level of work for their capabilities and to meet the requirements of the client.About UsRSK Middle East offers leading consultancy and contracting services in engineering, environmental management and sustainability planning that support the UN Sustainable Development Goals in the region.
