We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Controller to lead the financial management of The Driving Force Inc. (TDFI) within our group of companies. Reporting directly to the Corporate Controller, you will assist in leading the Accounting and Finance department in achieving its goal to produce accurate, timely, and useful financial information while ensuring the efficient operation of financial functions. This role interfaces between operational teams and leadership to ensure financial alignment with strategic goals and oversee key accounting projects and initiatives. What You'll Do:
- Oversee and coordinate all TDFI accounting operational functions.
- Ensure accurate financial documentation, reconciliations, and variance analysis are completed to support company financials.
- Manage the monthly financial close process to ensure completion within the set timeline of 5 business days.
- Oversee the accurate and timely reporting of branch and consolidated TDFI financial statements.
- Assist the Corporate Controller in conducting financial analysis, identifying trends, and providing strategic recommendations to support business decisions.
- Collaborate with the Corporate Controller and senior leadership to plan and prepare the annual budget.
- Monitor quarterly budget-to-actual results and provide insights as necessary.
- Develop and track key performance indicators (KPIs) and business metrics.
- Maintain general ledger accounts and ensure alignment with the current chart of accounts.
- Evaluate existing financial processes and systems, implementing improvements to increase efficiencies.
- Collaborate with TDFI operational management to respond to inquiries and resolve financial issues.
- Act as a business advisor to key operational leaders, including Area and Branch Managers.
- Manage TDFI bank accounts and approve payments as necessary.
- Work with senior leadership on special projects and ad hoc financial analyses.
- Assist in year-end audit preparation.
- Ensure timely completion of monthly and quarterly sales tax filings.
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance, or equivalent.
- CPA designation or equivalent is required.
- A minimum of 5 years of progressive accounting and management experience.
- Strong people management skills, motivating and coaching team members.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Microsoft Excel.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics GP is considered an asset.
- Familiarity with ERP systems and workflows is beneficial.
- Highly organized, with demonstrated problem solving skills, and decision-making abilities.
- Proven ability to effectively handle and prioritize multiple and complex projects and adapt to changing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
