We are seeking a detail-oriented Payroll and Benefits Specialist to join our dynamic payroll team. In this role, you will be responsible for processing payroll and benefits data accurately and efficiently, ensuring timely and compliant delivery What You'll Do:
- Ensure accurate and timely payroll preparation, documentation, and reconciliation.
- Manually calculate salary adjustments, vacation changes, and process staffing updates (hires, transfers, terminations).
- Review pay and deductions for accuracy, and issue manual cheques when necessary.
- Administer and communicate company benefits programs, advising employees on eligibility and coverage.
- Maintain benefit records, assist with special pay or benefit projects, and perform month-end tasks and account reconciliation.
- Compile reports and summaries for payroll and HR, supporting department administrative needs.
- Stay updated on payroll legislation and ensure confidentiality of all payroll and HR information.
- Troubleshoot pay discrepancies and provide support to employees on payroll, tax, benefits, and vacation inquiries.
- CPA Level 1 or equivalent.
- 3+ years of payroll experience, with a solid understanding of provincial/territorial legislation.
- 3+ years of benefits experience and knowledge of various payroll types (hourly, salaried, commission).
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience with report writing is an asset.
- Ability to manage tight deadlines and handle confidential matters with diplomacy.
