Project Manager, Mechanical Engineering Our client is a small, very experienced, interdisciplinary company specializing in custom designed and engineered pollution control system solutions for a variety of industries. They are looking for a highly motivated person that is interested in learning and understanding all aspects of their designs, and who can continually grow and assume more responsibility. The role will provide a unique opportunity to work with, learn from, and build relationships with technical experts, project professionals, and vendors. The individual must be a self-starter and show willingness to actively contribute to the success of the company. They offer a flexible working environment and hybrid work model. Compensation levels for this position vary and will be based on individual qualifications. Responsibilities: - Develop a thorough understanding of the detailed project requirements and specifications - Manage and review associated project documentation (general arrangement drawings, bill of materials, P&IDs, fan/pump curves, etc.) and ensure that they align with the project requirements and specifications - Develop and maintain the project schedule - Contact and coordinate with suppliers for equipment and material selections and perform technical evaluation of options most suited to the individual system - Maintain key technical project documents such as general arrangement / layout drawings, Bill of Materials, mechanical equipment lists (MELs), etc. - Review engineering/contractor deliverables for technical compliance, scope alignment, and quality. - Create accurate Bill of Materials used for project management and procurement - Communicate with fabricators, obtain bids for work, clarify technical issues, and develop an understanding of the fabrication process - Lead coordination meetings with customers to discuss project schedule, documentation, and all other technical and commercial matters - Participate in and coordinate equipment and fabrication inspections - Ability and willingness to travel to job sites for commissioning (infrequent)- Initiate, maintain and ensure safe keeping of accurate records of design reviews, workshops, and alignment meetings. - Weekly and monthly reporting. - Maintain project schedules and budgets, staying aware of project progress. - Assist with the production of engineering and construction work packages and deliverables. - Work in a team environment and share skills/experience with other members of the team. - Assist with other duties as assigned or required. - Experience with process vessels, piping, P&IDs, pumps, fans, instrumentation is a major asset. Knowledge of any of the following is an asset: - CSA W47.1, CSA W69, ASME BPV Sec VIII, and ASME B31.3, ASME RTP-1- Metal Fabrication, FRP Fabrication, vessel design, piping design, P&ID’s, instrumentation, pumps and industrial fans Qualifications: - C.E.T., B.Sc, or B.Eng, in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering / Engineering Technologist from a recognized University or College (E.I.T. or C.E.T.)- 5+ years of discipline or project engineering/coordination/management experience. - Strong communication and interpersonal skills. - Ability to be flexible and manage a variety of assignments and situations simultaneously. - Self-motivated, resourceful, and flexible team player. - Experienced in working closely with multi-disciplinary teams in a heavy industrial project development setting is preferred. - Understanding of basic project management principles and project controls principles and experience working for an EPC/EPCM contractor or an Owner during the project development phase would be an asset. - Must have a valid driver’s license and be willing to travel. Preference will be given to those candidates that have experience with, and a great understanding of, vessel design and detailed piping design (valves, instruments, supports).
