SCADA Systems Engineer/DCS Engineer Location: Markham, ON Position Overview We are seeking a SCADA Systems Engineer/DCS Engineer to join our team. This role involves configuring, designing, and maintaining SCADA and Distributed Control Systems (DCS) to support industrial automation and control processes. The ideal candidate will possess in-depth knowledge of SCADA configuration and testing, experience with Power Grid protective relays and SCADA devices, and expertise in troubleshooting and protocols like DNP and Modbus. Key Responsibilities 1. SCADA/DCS System Configuration and Deployment:
- Configure SCADA systems, including elements such as GE relays (UR relays, SEL relays), gateways (GE D20, G500, and competitors like Novatech), and RTUs.
- Plan and deploy devices, computers, instruments, and controllers, ensuring optimal functionality.
- Set up system parameters using tools specific to the devices in use (GE, Schweitzer, Ryan, etc.).
- Develop and design SCADA architectures, including network diagrams.
- Program logic and algorithms for control and monitoring processes.
- Create user interfaces and dashboards to enhance system usability.
- Conduct system testing remotely using lab facilities in Arizona, ensuring proper configuration and functionality.
- Troubleshoot system issues, identify root causes, and implement solutions to ensure seamless operation.
- Analyze system performance metrics to identify areas for improvement.
- Implement enhancements to optimize SCADA/DCS functionality and reliability.
- Prepare detailed technical documentation, including configuration and troubleshooting procedures.
- Ensure compliance with industry safety standards and regulations.
- Provide technical support for distributed control systems and assist customers with troubleshooting and issue resolution.
- Manage SCADA/DCS projects, including progress tracking, cost discussions, and stakeholder communication.
- Participate in weekly meetings with lead engineers to review progress and discuss project requirements.
- Work with project managers on commercial aspects and ensure project deliverables align with customer expectations.
- Experience: At least 5 years of SCADA configuration and testing experience.
- Technical Expertise:
- Hands-on experience with GE protective relays (UR relays) and SCADA devices (D20, G500, HMI).
- Knowledge of competitor devices such as Novatech, Schweitzer, and Ryan.
- Familiarity with communication protocols like DNP and Modbus .
- Troubleshooting: Strong troubleshooting skills for SCADA/DCS systems.
- Programming: Basic experience in relay programming (not PLC programming).
- Knowledge of safety and compliance standards in the industry.
- Familiarity with tools and platforms for SCADA/DCS testing and diagnostics.
