THE ENGINE OPERATIONS ENGINEER II / SENIOR ENGINE OPERATIONS ENGINEER The Engine Operations Engineer II / Senior Engine Operations Engineer will be responsible for the Development & Operation of the Archimedes engines on the Neutron Vehicle. You will collaborate with an amazing team of engineers on the Neutron Propulsion team. The Engine Operations Engineer II will support test and launch operations and act as the POC for vehicle operations. WHAT YOU'LL GET TO DO:
  • Work on Neutron vehicle engine development and launch operations.
  • Serve as one of the technical engine experts and POC for vehicle operations.
  • Develop integrated vehicle level engine tests for both performance validation and reliability.
  • Responsible for success of Archimedes for testing and launch campaigns, supporting test and launch operations including post test and flight data review, anomaly investigation and on console support.
  • Define and implement engine acceptance and operational requirements to promote reliability, reusability and streamlined process of engines.
  • Work closely with engine systems and vehicle system engineers to ensure robust integration and testing plan.
  • Responsible for the operation & performance of all engines used in vehicle operations.
  • Develop and execute a plan for the acceptance performance checks of all flight engines at the Stennis Test facility.
  • Develop and execute on vehicle engine procedures as the propulsion technical expert.
ENGINER OPERATIONS ENGINEER II, YOU'LL BRING THESE QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering or related field.
  • 2+ years experience developing, testing, or operating complex fluid systems (e.g., aircraft hydraulics, oil & gas processing facilities, aerospace test & launch sites, rocket fluid systems).
  • Knowledge of fundamentals in fluid dynamics, thermodynamics, and fluid system design.
SENIOR ENGINE OPERATIONS ENGINEER, YOU'LL BRING THESE QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering or related field.
  • 5+ years experience developing, testing, or operating complex fluid systems (e.g., aircraft hydraulics, oil & gas processing facilities, aerospace test & launch sites, rocket fluid systems).
  • Knowledge of fundamentals in fluid dynamics, thermodynamics, and fluid system design.
THESE QUALIFICATIONS WOULD BE A NICE TO HAVE:
  • Advanced degree in a fluid mechanics-heavy field.
  • 3+ years experience developing and operating an engine system or components for a staged combustion rocket engine.
  • Experience with Methyl/LOX fluid systems.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Ability to travel and support engine operations at the launch facility.
  • Must be physically able to commute to buildings.
  • Ability to communicate outside of work hours.
  • Ability to occasionally work extended hours/or weekends as needed.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to focus.
  • Regularly required to sit, use hands and fingers, operate computer keyboard and controls, and communicate verbally and in writing.
  • Occasional exposure to dust, fumes and moderate levels of noise.
