- Utilize various sewing techniques and equipment, including industrial sewing machines, to produce high-quality products.
- Perform alterations and repairs on existing garments, demonstrating skill in adjusting sizes and correcting flaws.
- Select appropriate fabrics and materials, advising clients on choices that align with their vision and practicality.
- Maintain a clean and organized workspace, ensuring all tools and equipment are in good working condition.
- Keep up-to-date with fashion trends and techniques to incorporate modern elements into designs.
- Manage time effectively to meet deadlines, especially during peak seasons or high-demand periods.
- Document measurements and client preferences accurately to ensure repeat business and client satisfaction.
- Collaborate closely with clients to understand their needs and provide expert recommendations for styles and designs.
- Train and mentor junior staff members or apprentices, sharing skills and fostering a collaborative environment.
- High school diploma or equivalent; formal training in tailoring or fashion design is preferred.
- At least 3-5 years of experience in tailoring, specifically in custom garments and alterations.
- Proficient in using industrial sewing machines and tools, with a strong understanding of garment construction.
- Strong portfolio showcasing previous work, demonstrating versatility in styles and techniques.
- Ability to communicate effectively with clients to understand and fulfill their specific garment needs.
- Experience in bespoke tailoring and formal wear is a significant plus.
- Familiarity with pattern-making and fabric selection to offer comprehensive design services.
