As an Electronics Engineer/Hardware Designer at Soneil Spark, you’ll play a pivotal role in developing our innovative products that will drive the adoption of electric vehicles worldwide. We’re committed to pushing the boundaries of technology and design, ensuring that EV charging becomes convenient, fast, and efficient for everyone. Role and Responsibilities:
- Work as part of our multi-disciplinary Engineering team to develop and build our consumer-facing EV charging products
- Work with our R&D team on developing new product ideas
- Take prototype and development hardware designs and turn them into production-ready designs, with a specific focus on DFM and DFT
- Prototype and debug new hardware designs prior to moving into production
- Act as primary contact with our suppliers & CMs for production
- Elicit and compare quotes for production of new designs and identify the most cost-effective method of production
- Support the lifetime of a hardware design, including sourcing and qualifying alternate parts and modifying designs to improve yield, fit alternate parts, and/or reduce cost
- Help develop production test systems for our products
- Document designs and provide technical guidance to product management & marketing
- 5-7 years of related work experience (ideally in small teams and as a sole-contributor)
- Degree or Diploma in a related field of study
- Self-directed and takes ownership of their work including all aspects of a design or issue, proactively identifies and solves issues before they become problems
- Detail oriented but comfortable starting work with incomplete information
- Extensive schematic design & PCB layout experience - Altium preferred
- Master in mixed analog & digital and low- and high-voltage designs including challenging EMI/EMC designs
- Expert in hardware debugging in a lab environment
- Comfortable with embedded code (C, C++)
- Proficient with communication protocols such as CAN, SPI, I2C, MODBUS
- Have brought multiple products from prototype to mass production including ongoing production support
- Experience with certification testing for global markets
- Manage multiple tasks with minimal supervision and adaptable to work in a dynamic environment
- Proven track record in product development, including research, idea generation, detailed planning, and prototype creation
- Highly adaptable to changing deadlines and project requirements
- Strong problem solving and critical thinking skills
- Ability to research new products and meet deadlines
- Experienced with rapid iteration
- Comfortable working in a startup environment
