What You Will Do | Āu Mahi
You will be a crucial element in delivering our Connectivity Modernisation Programme which includes designing, procuring, and implementing a future state connectivity environment for the University. You'll work in partnership with our Connectivity Manager, overseeing the operational activities and supporting our Network Operational Team to ensure our connectivity services run smoothly. Plus, you'll be part of the strategic planning for our future connectivity infrastructure and work in collaboration with outsourced connectivity service partners. Your day-to-day will include (but is not limited to):- Running network operations and maintaining procedures for network support.
- Contributing to technology transition plans and strategies.
- Ensuring system software supports service objectives.
- Aligning connectivity operations with security procedures.
Minimum Requirements
You will have advanced experience in/with:- Network engineering and management (at least 5 years).
- WI-FI, LAN, WAN, cloud connectivity, router hardware/software, switch hardware/software, network protocols (e.g. TCP/IP, IPv6, routing protocols), Firewalls.
- Knowledge of industry standards and government regulations relevant to data communications / networking.
- Large-scale connectivity planning, deployment, and management, with appropriate levels of governance including the creation of detailed business cases and appropriate planning and reporting.
- Contributing to and delivering excellent connectivity services, ideally with some exposure to the unique demands of a tertiary environment.
- Strong collaborations, negotiation, and customer-focused approaches.
- Active commitment to upholding the values, tikanga (protocols and processes), kawa (rules) of cultural practice and traditions as guided by mana whenua, Ngāi Tūāhuriri, and valuing te reo Māori.
Education Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree (NZQA Level 7) or higher.
- Cisco CCNA, Fortinet NSE4, CWNP, Aruba ACCP, Juniper JNCP, Microsoft Azure Network Engineer Associate or equivalent.
