We are representing a leading organization in the steel manufacturing industry, currently seeking a dynamic and experienced Logistics and Dispatch Manager to join their team. This role will oversee and manage the logistics operations for the company. This includes the planning, coordination, and execution of the transportation/imports of raw materials and distribution of finished goods. The Logistics and Dispatch Manager will ensure that all logistics functions are optimized for efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and adherence to safety and regulatory standards. Principle accountabilities, role and responsibilities: Logistics Planning and Coordination:

  • Develop and implement logistics strategies to ensure timely and cost-effective movement/imports of raw materials and finished steel products.
  • Coordinate with suppliers, production teams, and customers to ensure smooth flow of goods to meet production and delivery schedules.
  • Ensure alignment between internal production schedules and external delivery timelines.
Transportation and Distribution Management:
  • Manage transportation operations, including selecting carriers, negotiating freight contracts, and managing transportation costs.
  • Ensure compliance with industry regulations, including transportation, environmental, and safety standards.
  • Optimize delivery routes and methods to reduce transportation costs and lead times.
Team Leadership and Development:
  • Lead and manage a team of logistics coordinators, custom officers, and transportation personnel.
  • Provide training, performance management, and career development for team members to build a high-performing logistics team.
  • Foster a culture of safety, efficiency, and continuous improvement.
Reporting and Documentation:
  • Maintain accurate records of shipments, inventories, and logistics operations.
  • Prepare regular reports for senior management on logistics performance, issues, and improvements.
  • Ensure compliance with documentation standards for shipments and regulatory compliance.
Health, Safety, and Environmental Compliance:
  • Ensure that all logistics operations adhere to workplace safety standards and regulations.
  • Monitor and enforce environmental compliance in the handling, transportation, and disposal of steel products and raw materials.
  • Any other duties assigned by the Reporting Head
Knowledge and skills
  • Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, Logistics, Business Administration, or related field
  • A master’s degree or professional certification in logistics will be a plus
  • At least 10 years of experience in logistics management, ideally in the steel or manufacturing industry.
  • Proven experience in managing transportation, import of raw material by air, sea and road, and inventory systems.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills.
  • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
  • Familiarity with logistics software, supply chain management systems and SAP
  • Strong on negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • In-depth knowledge of UAE transportation laws and industry regulations.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
