Reporting to the Executive Vice President, Operations, you will manage, design, and execute high-profile events, harnessing industry insights to optimize impact and revenue. Your role is critical in maintaining relationships with donors, volunteers, and internal teams, ensuring each event not only captivates but significantly advances ROM's mission. ROM Governors is committed to being the country's top cultural foundation because of its success in building highly engaged, impactful donor and other community relationships.POSITION SUMMARY:The AVP, Events & Celebrations is responsible for providing strategic insight, industry knowledge, volunteer management, overall leadership, and operations of the Events and Celebrations portfolio. The AVP, Events & Celebrations provides oversight of the day-to-day operations of this portfolio, ensuring that annual revenue targets are met by creating appealing and strategic events that contribute to ROM Governors' fundraising goals, build awareness, and elevate donor engagement for all segments. Developing a comprehensive event strategy, delivering and monitoring annual and long-range event plans will be key priorities.This portfolio has one direct report. Responsibilities will include coaching, mentoring, and managing performance expectations of this position.KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:Develop strategy and maintain oversight of ROM Governors events and celebrations across all donor programs. Leverage existing events to engage new/multiple donor groups.Deliver financial and fundraising results as outlined in the annual fundraising and business plan.Lead the planning of signature events inclusive of ROM Classic Golf tournament and ROM Ball and ROM Celebration.Lead signature and campaign events which require corporate partnerships and in-kind support.Represent Governors internally and externally to the highest professional standards including interactions with ROM Executive, Government officials, Donors and Patrons.Hire, train, and mentor the secondary Events position.Explore digital platforms for event and engagement opportunities.Utilize digital resources to analyze and report on event metrics, opportunities and KPIs.Development and management of event and portfolio budgets.QUALIFICATIONS & COMPETENCIES:Minimum of 6 years of experience in event management and experience in marketing and communications across several mediums.Ability to organize and manage a diverse range of assignments and projects with high efficiency and attention to detail.Demonstrated track record of securing event fundraising and sponsorship.Resourcefulness and independence, while remaining comfortable working within the framework of an integrated development program and team-oriented environment.Experience working with senior volunteers, executive leadership, and other community stakeholders.Experience with digital events and familiarity with digital event management platforms.Strong analytical, interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.Strong strategic thinking capabilities and problem-solving skills.Superior project management and prioritizing skill.SALARY AND TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:Start Date: ASAPStatus: Full-Time PermanentEmployee Group: ROM GovernorsSchedule: 35 Hours per weekProbationary Period: Six (6) MonthsLocation: Toronto, ONOpen Date: June 19, 2024Close Date: Open Until FilledSalary: CAD 100,000 to CAD 130,000Work Model: In-Person with flexible work arrangements (minimum 3 days in office)DIVERSITY STATEMENT:At ROM Governors, we consider equity, diversity, and inclusion foundational to our institutional success.
