The Opportunity Due to current business opportunities, we are looking to hire an Electrical Engineer to join our fast-growing Energy team in our Sydney or Newcastle office. This is an opportunity to join a dedicated and high-performing team of Energy professionals to deliver a range of significant projects for both public and private sector clients both locally and nationally. What you’ll do:
- Accountable for electrical engineering analysis and undertakings as well as upholding compliance with Australian Standards and relevant regulatory acts of legislation and best practice.
- Carry out preliminary and detailed analysis and design of electrical power systems for a range of clients and industries, including transport, property, defence, transmission & distribution and renewable energy infrastructure.
- Consider safety in design throughout the project lifecycle.
- Prepare specifications, drawings, reports and other deliverables as required for each individual project.
- Identify opportunities for personal development and bring these to the attention of his or her manager.
- Manage project tasks within project scopes to cost, time, and quality and resource requirements.
- Ensure project quality systems are adhered to.
- Ensure legislation and company policies and standards are adhered to.
- Bachelor’s degree (Electrical Engineering) or equivalent.
- Previous experience with a background in High Voltage Electrical Design, including some of the following:
- Single line diagrams,
- Equipment layouts,
- Cable route drawings,
- Engineering calculations,
- Power system modelling,
- Protection design and grading studies,
- Earthing analysis and design,
- Load flow and fault level studies,
- Cable sizing analysis,
- Arc flash analysis,
- Equipment and/or construction specifications.
- Demonstrated experience in the use of power system analysis software, such as SKM PTW, DigSilent, PSCAD, PSS/E or similar.
- Demonstrated experience in the use of electrical design software, such as CDEGS, CYMCAP or similar.
- Experience in managing the scope, budget, timing and quality of design tasks of varying complexity and size.
- Proven ability to prepare technical reports.
- Experience in design tasks within some of the following markets would be advantageous: Rail, Transport, Defence, Transmission & Distribution, Renewable Energy and/or Property & Buildings (High Voltage only).
