Overview We are seeking a Fuels Expert to join our Chemical & Process Analysis Division (C&PAD). C&PAD is responsible for providing advanced analytical and technical support pertaining to crude oil and refined products, water chemistry, compositional analysis of solid materials, and process support for operational facilities. Your primary role is to lead and guide the fuel related activities within the group by demonstrating a combination of experience in operational support and problem solving, and applying analytical techniques and an understanding of fuel regulations and their implications. Key Responsibilities Engage with research, operation, and engineering entities to support and expand the existing range of support offered for fuel and additive testing. Identify gaps within the Group’s existing capabilities and provide recommendations and justification for how to address those needs. Work with proponents from all fuel-impacted areas of the business to develop effective approaches to ensuring optimum support. Support ongoing fuel research projects by providing technical expertise and/or analytical support. Develop new analytical methods for non-routine tests and assessments to meet operational and research needs. Develop and propose new methods to provide differentiated fuel offerings for marketing purposes. Carry out investigative studies related to fuel quality concerns. Utilize project management tools in setting work objectives and timely execution of the projects. Mentor and coach junior scientists and technicians in the field of fuels and additives testing. Minimum Qualifications Master Degree in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering. An advanced degree is preferred. A minimum of 15 years’ experience in the development, testing and evaluation of transportation fuels and their components. Comprehensive knowledge of the impact of fuel quality at all stages, primarily within the automotive sector. Recognized as a subject matter expert on hydrocarbon fuels. Good understanding of fuel production, distribution, and application to vehicles. Demonstrable knowledge of key international fuel specifications and regulations. Track record of leading teams and solving technical problems related to fuel products. Understanding of sustainable fuels and their impact. Experience in testing of fuel and fuel additives. Ability to interpret fuel test results and translate them into meaningful reports. Proven track record of project delivery in technical support and research. Ability to propose and direct work programs to fulfill needs and provide guidance. Ability to demonstrate technical authority and broad credibility.
