Your New Role: What’s Involved?
- Oversee health, safety, and environmental arrangements for the project, ensuring compliance with the WSP HSEQ Management System to protect our people.
- Manage HSE Inspectors, ensuring they monitor the implementation of health and safety measures on-site in line with legal and client requirements.
- Develop and deliver health, safety, and environmental training to WSP employees, including induction and safe working practices.
- Review and approve contractors’ health, safety, and environmental plans, risk assessments, and method statements to ensure compliance with legal and client requirements before work begins.
- Plan daily site visits to ensure health and safety measures are in place before work commences.
- Conduct weekly joint HSE inspections with HSE Inspectors and contractor personnel, ensuring corrective/preventive actions are completed.
- Organize HSE meetings with clients, WSP project staff, and contractors.
- Initiate and test emergency response plans, ensuring drills are conducted according to the project schedule and performance standards.
- Ensure HSE Inspectors follow up on contractor incident investigations, ensuring corrective actions are implemented to prevent recurrence, and provide technical guidance on accident prevention.
- Conduct regular site safety reviews.
- A bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- Proven experience in a similar HSE leadership role, preferably within the construction or engineering industry.
- In-depth knowledge of HSE regulations and best practices, especially in the Middle East region.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and influence stakeholders at all levels.
- Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- NEBOSH or equivalent certification is highly desirable.
- Fluent in English, both written and spoken. Knowledge of Arabic is a plus.
