Vacancy: Tendering & Estimating Engineer Reporting to: Tendering & Estimating Manager Location: Wakefield, Stockton or Sheffield Salary Range: £44,366 - £69,593 Position: IUS is currently in search of a Tendering & Estimating Electrical Engineer to provide accurate and efficient cost estimates for projects located mainly within the UK.Reporting into the Tendering & Estimating Manager, the main responsibilities of this role will be to produce tenders, quotations and secure orders associated with all IUS workstreams. Key Responsibilities:
- Ability to analyse and interpret detailed clients’ requests, drawings and/or specifications.
- Identify valued engineered solutions.
- Develop accurate and timely estimates, produce clear and detailed quotations.
- Attend pre- and post-tender bid meetings with clients and/or their representatives.
- Work under deadline pressures in an efficient, composed, and calm manner.
- Ability to develop build good working relationships with clients.
- Identify and develop new customers.
- Identify new supplier’s and contractors to improve safety, performance and profit.
- Able to work across all IUS work streams.
- Able to manage situations when workload presents conflicting demands on time availability, demonstrating an ability to effectively prioritise and schedule.
- Develop and select effective solutions to problems and to manage risk.
- Communicate facts, ideas and proposals to others in an effective and persuasive manner.
- Correspond and negotiate with clients, suppliers, contractors and colleagues
- Apply Safety, Health and Environmental and Welfare policies and procedures.
- Work with others to develop their knowledge and skills.
- Prioritise and manage personal workload and deliver tasks to time and quality requirements.
- Deliver efficient and effective customer service.
- HNC (or equivalent) in Electrical & Electronic Engineering
- Knowledge of LV, HV & EHV distribution networks and protection systems
- Civil Engineering/Utilities experience
- Commercial awareness
- Full UK driving licence
- Degree in Electrical Engineering or similar
- Chartered Engineer status
- Customer and subcontractor negotiations skills
- HV & LV design
- CDM
- Experience in the utility construction industry with a complete understanding of gas, water and electric distribution infrastructures.
