Our client, a leading independent power producer in Africa, is seeking a Senior Lawyer specialising in Energy Law to join their dynamic legal team. Based in Cape Town, you will play a key role in supporting the legal aspects of their growing operations. Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist with initial due diligence of projects.
  • Provide draft/advise on projects acquisition agreements, joint development agreements and/or management services agreements, drafting initial project documents, including term sheets, and related letters and notices.
  • Assist with drafting and review of all legal documents pertaining to the operation of the business (including lease agreements, service agreements, grant agreements, supply agreements, and general terms and conditions of contract counterparties and service providers).
  • Assist and manage contractual claims or legal disputes that arise during construction with third-party contractors.
  • Assist with the management of existing assets including fielding day-to-day enquiries from on-site teams, assisting project managers with any post-completion matters, ongoing document management, and assisting with any post-completion initiatives.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Law.
  • Minimum of 6 years post-admission experience, with a solid background in energy law, specifically within the renewable energy sector.
  • Experience in greenfield development, ideally gained in emerging markets.
  • Experience of working with lenders, financiers, EPC Contractors, OEMs, and joint venture partners.
