Job Overview: The Operations Manager for Trade Support is responsible for ensuring seamless operational support for the trade desk, maintaining the accuracy and timeliness of documentation, solving critical problems, and fostering cross-departmental collaboration. This role will focus on optimizing processes, coordinating with internal teams, and ensuring smooth execution of trade operations, while enforcing standard operating procedures (SOPs) and ensuring compliance with company and bank requirements.Key Responsibilities:1. Quality of Work - Trade SupportEnsure timeliness and accuracy of trade-related documents, such as Letters of Credit (LCs), contracts, and shipping documents.Monitor and handle critical situations, providing effective problem-solving solutions in collaboration with various departments.Collaborate with traders to ensure their inputs are reflected before handing over assignments to the operations team.Maintain cross-departmental coordination—especially between wheat, pulses, and other commodity desks—to ensure seamless allocation of resources and execution of tasks.Track and monitor the negotiation and payment of LC documents, ensuring compliance with terms even if LCs are opened post-shipment.Oversee the team's performance, conducting quality checks on weaker staff to ensure document accuracy and timely actions.2. Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Process ImprovementsCreate and enforce SOPs related to banking processes, allocation of trade finance, and documentation requirements.Conduct regular reviews of processes and checklists to identify opportunities for improvement.Ensure continuous supervision of staff, particularly those who are prone to overlooking important steps, to minimize errors.Oversee the implementation of checklists, ensuring that all staff consistently follow them to reduce errors and improve efficiency.3. Reporting & TroubleshootingFacilitate weekly meetings with Operations, Traders, and Management to review and discuss ongoing transactions, flag issues, and troubleshoot operational bottlenecks.Ensure the shared data files and reports are updated in real time by all relevant teams (Operations, MO, and TF) for clear visibility into the status of all transactions.Focus on flagging and discussing problematic points during execution meetings, aiming for quick resolution with input from traders, and follow through on action plans until closure.Provide real-time updates and solutions to operational challenges that arise during the execution of trade transactions.4. Team Coordination & ImprovementEnhance team collaboration by ensuring timely communication with internal departments (Trade Finance, Operations, Traders, etc.) regarding LCs, bank allocations, and other critical tasks.Identify gaps in team response and coordination and take steps to improve efficiency and response times in critical situations.Support ongoing training and mentoring of staff to ensure continuous improvement in operational performance.Qualifications & Experience:Bachelor's degree in Business, Trade, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.Minimum 8 years of experience in trade operations, documentation, or related roles, preferably within a commodity trading environment.Strong understanding of Letters of Credit (LCs), trade finance, and cross-border trade documentation.Proven ability to lead teams, enforce SOPs, and drive process improvements.Excellent problem-solving skills and experience handling critical situations.Strong interpersonal and communication skills to effectively collaborate with internal and external stakeholders.Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.Key Skills:Trade documentation & LC managementCross-functional team collaborationProblem-solving and decision-makingSOP development and enforcementData management and reportingProcess improvement and quality assurance AGG
