JOB SUMMARY: Excelerate Energy UAE is seeking an experienced Accountant to support our growing business, primarily in the MENA region and Europe, with potential responsibilities extending to other global regions. This full-time position is based in Dubai, UAE. As a key member of the team, you will work closely with the Houston Accounting Management team and the Vice President of the MENA Region to shape and enhance our accounting operations, ensuring they align with the needs of our expanding business in MENA, Europe, and beyond. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: include but are not limited to the following activities:

  • Monthly Close: Actively participate in the month-end close process by preparing journal entries, accruals, and posting financial data. Perform account reconciliations in accordance with both International GAAP and US GAAP. Ensure compliance with company policies related to closing procedures, timelines, and account reconciliation standards. Provide financial analysis and decision-making support to local and regional management.
  • Finance Operations: Contribute to core finance functions, including journal entries, accruals, reconciliations, and month-end financial close activities.
  • Financial Reporting Conversion: Convert financial accounts from IFRS to US GAAP based on statutory financials. Monitor and ensure proper mapping between the statutory chart of accounts and the US chart of accounts.
  • US GAAP Reporting & MENA/Europe Compliance: Ensure timely submission of all US GAAP reporting requirements to the US Corporate Office while meeting MENA/Europe/other regions tax and local statutory obligations.
  • Third-Party Management: Oversee third-party service providers, ensuring alignment with internal controls and global accounting processes.
  • Revenue Recognition & Invoicing: Ensure timely recognition and invoicing of various revenue streams, including regas services, gas sales, and other income sources.
  • Accounts Payable Support: Assist and support team with invoices posting and reviewing activity for completeness. Handle payment related vendor queries and communicate with back-office team in Houston.
  • Accounts Receivable Support: Work with the Ops team on the rebillable costs and prepare monthly OM Rebillable Track sheet and coordinate with Houston team the creation of invoices on SAP. Upload invoices on client’s supplier portals and assist on the payment follow-up and collection process.
  • Intercompany & Cash Management: Review intercompany transactions, reconciliations, and eliminations to ensure accuracy and completeness. Assist in resolving intercompany differences and maintaining accurate reconciliations.
  • GAAP Reconciliation: Perform reconciliations of account balances between IFRS and US GAAP, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
  • Account Reconciliation: Reconcile accounts payable/receivable balances from subledger to general ledger and conduct aging analysis. This includes Intercompany (IC) reconciliations.
  • Tax and Other Compliance: Assist with monthly, quarterly, and annual tax filings, ensuring adherence to local tax regulations (VAT (UAE), CIT (UAE & QATAR), WHT(Pakistan), VAT Finland, among others. Assist in submission of UAE annual (ESR) Economic Substance Report Notification compliance.
  • Statutory Audits & Financial Statements: Manage the processes and deliverables for statutory audits and financial statements, ensuring compliance with local regulations. This includes the ICV (In-Country Certification) audit.
  • Audit Support: Provide support for monthly, quarterly, and annual audits. Collaborate with subsidiary controllers to meet statutory audit requirements.
  • Compliance & SOX Control Framework: Ensure UAE, Europe subsidiaries operate within a Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX)-compliant control framework. This includes preparing journal entries, vendor payments, and assisting with the transition from outsourced local accounting/tax firms.
  • New Accounting Standards Implementation: Assist in the adoption of new accounting standards and contribute to budget preparation, presentations, and ad hoc executive management requests.
  • Budgeting & Forecasting: Assist in the preparation of budgets and forecasts, including cash flow projections. Conduct variance analysis on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis.
  • Corporate Function Support: Collaborate with FP&A, Tax, Treasury, Investor Relations, and other corporate functions in the development of accurate budgets, forecasts, and management reports.
