EBC Inc. is seeking Field Engineers for their operations in Vancouver, BC. As a member of the Civil Works and Earthworks Division, you will provide insight and innovative construction solutions to ensure the successful execution of the Site C project, which is a dam and generating station in northeastern British Columbia (BC) of 1,100 MW. AFDE Partnership, the joint venture in which EBC is part, is responsible for this mandate.The candidate will report directly to the Project Manager and will be responsible for ensuring that construction plans meet the guidelines and specifications outlined in the contract.As a Field Engineer at EBC you will:Read technical and administrative project specifications;Inspect work daily to ensure that it meets the specified standards;Inform Project Manager of project development and discuss methods planned with him and the Superintendent;Order critical material with suppliers in collaboration with the Job Superintendent;Perform quantity tracking and cost coding for purposes of productivity analysis and accurate job cost forecasting;Prepare daily reports related to the crew, progress, and issues;Provide document control for correspondence, submittals, RFIs, NCRs, etc.;Assist in the preparation of final records for the project, including as-builts;Organize and participate in various meetings;Establish and keep necessary communications between suppliers, sub-contractors, professionals, and clients;Assist in carrying out a variety of field duties at the job site related to the project;Extensive traveling is to be expected.RequirementsDegree in Civil Engineering or Construction Management, or Civil Engineering Technology;Related job experience of 5-10 years in construction field engineering on Infrastructure projects;Advanced skills in written and oral English language;Willingness to travel extensively;Ability to climb, work at various heights and work outdoors in all weather conditions;Advanced skills in communication and problem solving;Initiative and leadership;Excellent knowledge of MS Office, MS Project, and Bluebeam.Skills and Attitudes RequiredStrong organizational skills with the ability to multi-task;Advanced skills in management, negotiation, communication, and problem-solving;Ability to climb, work at various heights and work outdoors in all weather conditions;Attention to detail and problem-solving skills;Excellent time management skills and ability to prioritize work;BenefitsA competitive salary;4-weeks vacation per year;A comprehensive group insurance program (health and dental plan paid by employer);A group RRSP program with an employer contribution to a DPSP;An employee assistance program;Continuous education;An active social club;A friendly and stimulating work environment;Large-scale projects.
