Offer Description
Anion exchange membrane electrolyzers are promising devices for the clean production of hydrogen from water. Over the past decade, the performance of anion exchange membrane water electrolyzers and fuel cell electrodes (AEMWE/AEMFC) has been significantly enhanced by the design and development of new materials (electrocatalysts, anion exchange ionomers or membranes). However, despite its importance for the design of efficient AEMWE/AEMFC catalyst layers, the electrode/electrolyte interfacial structure, its properties, as well as its impact on electrocatalytic activity and interface stability have been little studied.
The Post-Doc will study electrode/ionomer interfaces using model surfaces (single crystals, thin films, etc.). Interface properties (thickness, structure, electrode capacitance) will be studied as a function of ionomer and electrolyte solution composition, using spectroscopic and electrochemical methods (ellipsometry, FTIR, Raman, impedance spectroscopy, X-ray or neutron reflection). The kinetics of HOR/HER reactions will be studied on rotating disk electrodes and gas diffusion electrodes.
LEPMI is an electrochemistry laboratory whose studies focus primarily on energy and sustainable development. http://lepmi.grenoble-inp.fr/. The team involved is the Interfacial Electrochemistry and Processes team (EIP).
Profile Required:
PhD in electrochemistry or related field
Experience in electrochemical and spectroscopic techniques
Good command of English (written and spoken)
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
