This is an expected vacancy for a non-ongoing role up to November 2026. The Department of the House of Representatives is seeking applications from those interested in directly supporting the work of the House of Representatives and members of Parliament at Parliament House in Canberra. The Director, Parliamentary Events, will manage and oversee projects for the delivery of significant parliamentary events. This includes managing supplier contracts to ensure key performance indicators and legal requirements are met, and Commonwealth resources are used in an effective manner. The role will co-ordinate support for events delivered by agencies external to and within the parliamentary service and will be responsible for documenting and evaluating the delivery of projects to ensure the effectiveness of procedures and processes for future events. The key duties of the position include The Director Parliamentary Events will:
- draft Requests for Tender in accordance with Commonwealth Procurement Rules to procure services to deliver significant parliamentary events.
- draft contracts to engage third parties for the delivery of significant events.
- ensure that service delivery complies with Commonwealth legislative requirements, relevant Commonwealth frameworks and departmental policies.
- serve as a liaison point between the Department of the House of Representatives, the Speaker's and Members' offices, the wider parliamentary service and external service providers.
- manage the project's budget and provide regular reports on project progress to the department's senior executive.
- be responsible for documenting and evaluating the delivery of projects.
