Roles and ResponsibilitiesAssume sole responsibility for assigned Instrument and Controls engineering work scopesCarry out Instrument and Controls discipline work within a project team, supporting the project team for field development of oil and gas production facilitiesPlan, budget, organize and control a segment of the Instrument and Controls engineering deliverables for the projectPrepare Instrument and Controls deliverables for all project phases in the oil and gas industryEnsure that all work is completed without compromise to quality and is delivered according to the project scheduleProvide direction and guidance on all Instrument and Controls engineering technical queries raised by either internal or external partiesPromote safe behaviour at all timesProvide sound technical advice and solutions to a diversity of technical problems within the disciplineCo-ordinate with other disciplines during all stages of design development, construction, pre-commissioning, and start-upAssist in the coordination of all activities related to Instrument and Controls engineering designIdentify any areas of concern with respect to progress and/or quality and recommend corrective actions as requiredQualifications15+ years of relevant experience in the oil & gas industryPMC experience requiredDegree qualification in Instrument or Electronics EngineeringMembership of a recognised professional institute preferredThorough knowledge and understanding of the fundamentals of Instrument and Controls engineering design and analysisThorough awareness of relevant international codes and standardsFamiliar with the typical software packages that are used for Instrument and Controls engineering designExperience of the application of HAZOP, HAZID and SIL Rating to Instrument and Controls designExperience with Instrument and Controls design for prefabricated modular packaged equipmentExperience of working with multi-national and multi-cultural project teams is strongly preferredPrevious experience of working in the Middle East would be an advantageDesired Candidate ProfileAn Instrument Lead is responsible for overseeing instrumentation engineering activities in projects, focusing on the design, installation, and maintenance of instrumentation systems. This role ensures that measurement and control systems operate effectively and meet project specifications and industry standards. Key responsibilities typically include:Design Oversight: Leading the design and development of instrumentation systems, including sensors, transmitters, control systems, and monitoring equipment.Team Management: Supervising a team of instrumentation engineers and designers, providing guidance, mentorship, and ensuring quality in their work.Project Coordination: Collaborating with other engineering disciplines (electrical, mechanical, process) to ensure cohesive project execution.Compliance: Ensuring that all instrumentation designs and installations adhere to relevant codes, standards, and safety regulations.Risk Management: Identifying potential risks related to instrumentation and developing strategies to mitigate them throughout the project lifecycle.Quality Assurance: Implementing quality control measures during the design and construction phases, conducting reviews and inspections.Client Interaction: Communicating with clients to understand their requirements, providing project updates, and addressing concerns related to instrumentation.Budget and Schedule Management: Monitoring project budgets and timelines associated with instrumentation work, making adjustments as needed to stay on track.Technical Support: Offering expert technical advice and troubleshooting support during project execution and after implementation.
