The American International School - Riyadh is seeking experienced Nurses to serve as Substitute Nurses for our full-time nursing team. The candidates must be residents of Saudi Arabia, currently residing in Riyadh. Candidates must possess experience with patient management and experience with children. English fluency is a must to be considered for this part-time role as responsibilities. Substitute Nurses are contacted to fill in when contracted nurses are absent, this is not a full-time or contracted role.Must-have qualificationsThe substitute candidate must be a registered nurseThe substitute candidate must be a resident of Riyadh, Saudi ArabiaThe candidate must be under the sponsorship of spouse (as a dependent)The level of English proficiency must be: Fluent/BilingualThe ideal candidate must be comfortable with diabetic child/student managementQualifications:Minimum: Registered Nurse (current licensure preferred—ADN, BSN, or MSN)School nurse experience preferred.Pediatric and/or emergency nursing experience.Demonstrated commitment to health education. Performance Responsibilities:The substitute nurse fills in when a regular nurse is away and is available on-call for substituting opportunities.Completes a shadow day with substitutes and follows the guidance of permanent substitutes. Nurse substitutes (similar to teacher substitutes) understand that this is not permanent full-time work. These opportunities arise a few times a month and are not contracted employees of AIS-R.Provides direct physical health care to students, including assessing and rendering first aid and emergency care;Records accurately the date, time, and services rendered for each student for whom health services are provided;Maintains in Skyward/PS current health files on all students and provides referrals as necessary to teachers and principals;Serves as a liaison between school personnel, family, community, and health care providers regarding physical health concerns of children;Monitors and aids in the management of medication (including insulin) in emergency and non-emergency scenarios;Coordinates vision-screening clinics yearly for Elementary students;Leads and participates in the teaching of dental hygiene yearly to Elementary students;Promotes health and safety through education about healthy practices;Develops and conducts staff training programs (including but not limited to CPR, Heimlich maneuver, asthma, and first aid);Promotes a healthy school environment;Acts as a role model in the promotion of healthy lifestyles;Inventories and orders necessary supplies to provide appropriate health care and first aid;Reports to the supervisor all student issues/ailments and does not keep information "confidential"; Informs divisional principal(s) and Superintendent when medical emergencies arise;Abides by agreed-upon "Guidelines for Nurse's Office" found in ES/MS/HS handbooks;Perform other duties as assigned by the divisional principals and permanent nurses.
