Project Overview: TROJENA (The Mountains of NEOM) will be an iconic, world-class destination, blending natural and developed landscapes and will offer unique experiences for residents and visitors alike. Located in the northwest of Saudi Arabia in the region of Tabuk just 50km from the coast, TROJENA will be a destination like no other on earth. Based upon the principles of eco-tourism, facilities will include a folded vertical village, a lake with water sports and event facilities, high altitude ski village, observatory, world leading health and wellbeing facilities and a nature reserve which will be home to unique wildlife, heritage sites and exploration opportunities. With over 3,600 hotel, 2,200 homes, 9 iconic buildings and 100 world class indoor and outdoor experiences, Trojena will become the ultimate mountain destination. Bechtel will provide a full range of project management services to help the delivery of this iconic destination. Job Summary: In this role, you will integrate environmental requirements into large-scale project planning documents, permit applications, design criteria, construction plans, schedules, and subcontract documents. You will provide input on bid decisions, identify new approaches, conduct inspections, and participate in emergency response. Your work will help reduce adverse environmental impacts of Bechtel projects. Major Responsibilities:
  • Conduct and document daily inspections to ensure every project site is visited at least once every shift, to ensure the implementation of Environment requirements by the Contractor, subcontractors, suppliers, and vendors working under their supervision.
  • Raise observations from visits through Employers online reporting systems for Environment.
  • Participate in Environment pre-start kick-off meetings with Contractors as per the ENVIRONMENT.
  • Conduct daily verification of the suitability and ongoing availability of for example noise, dust, waste and EERP emergency arrangements. Include in daily inspection report.
  • Conduct daily follow up on Environment non-conformances to ensure are rectified in a timely manner or escalated, and that appropriate controls are maintained at all times.
  • In the case of a lack of Environment control and imminent risk of injury or continual failure to address unsafe act / condition, issue a suspension of work instruction under the contract and ensure this is notified to the ENVIRONMENT Manager who will then notify to NEOM Projects.
  • Discuss in Contractors weekly meeting the development and implementation of reward and recognition schemes.
  • Conduct daily verification of compliance with approved Construction Environmental Management plans.
  • Conduct monthly discussions with Contractors to ensure they produce an Environment file as per Employer’s requirements.
  • Participate and support any investigation on near misses and incidents as required.
Education and Experience Requirements: A bachelor’s degree (or international equivalent) related to environmental sciences, field biology, or natural resources and 3-5 years of relevant experience in large infrastructure projects in the following areas: permitting environmental regulatory compliance, air, water, soil, waste assessment of environmental impact, site investigations and field surveys, source monitoring and monitoring of the ambient environment. Required Knowledge and Skills:
  • Assisting Environmental performance function of Developments (including oversight of CAPEX construction).
  • Track record of both establishing and running Environmental Policies and execution Plans.
  • Ability to deal with many stakeholders with contesting priorities.
  • Excellent communicator.
  • Good organizational skills.
  • Able to work under pressure and meet strict project deadlines.
  • Highly agile and adaptable.
  • Remote project experience highly preferred.
