Our dedicated and diverse team prides itself on its reputation for quality work, reflected in the firm's steady growth since its founding in 1995.Duties and Responsibilities: Terrapex Environmental Ltd. is searching for an Intermediate Geotechnical Engineering Technician/Technologist (Level 2) to provide geotechnical field inspection and testing services on various projects, including transportation, land development, residential, commercial, and industrial projects, working out of Terrapex's Ottawa branch.As a member of our Geotechnical Service Line, under the direction of a Geotechnical Engineer, you will be responsible for assignments which include, but are not limited to:Inspection of the installation of driven pile, caissons, reinforcing steel, tiebacks, retaining walls, and ground improvements;Inspection and approval of foundation bearing surfaces;Subgrade inspection/proof rolling and approval for pavement construction, slab-on-grade, and engineered fill;Assisting the geotechnical engineer in field activities including borehole layout, geotechnical drilling, test pitting, surveying, vibration monitoring, and pre-construction condition surveys;Conducting field testing such as compaction testing on earth fill, granular, and asphalt materials, plastic concrete sampling and testing, as part of QC or QA programs;Assisting in laboratory testing as needed, for soils and aggregates;Participating in all assigned Health and Safety training programs;Attending technical training programs as required;Maintaining strong and effective working relationships with Terrapex staff as well as clients and subcontractors;Other duties as may be assigned.This is an excellent opportunity for candidates looking to advance their careers by applying their technical knowledge and leadership skills as part of a multi-disciplinary professional team. A Secondary School Diploma will also be considered based on previous work experience, trade, or training.Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience is required.Demonstrated willingness to learn;Available to work flexible schedules including occasional weekends, in various weather conditions, and may require additional hours and travel to site locations for extended periods within Ontario;This is a physically demanding position which involves the frequent ability to lift heavy weights of up to 50 lbs;Ability to work in all outdoor climates and mobility over various terrain;Good oral and written English communication skills;Strong attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and ability to think creatively;Excellent interpersonal skills and an ability to work effectively independently or as part of a team;Possess a valid driver's license and have regular access to a vehicle with valid registration and insurance;Valid (ASTM, ACI, CCIL) Certifications would be an asset or ability to complete necessary certifications.Exceptional candidates lacking one or more of the above qualifications may also be considered.Why Terrapex?
